Description and Requirements

Role Summary:

The ISG Technical Advocate is a strategic, partner-facing technical role that builds, leads, and accelerates Lenovo’s partner technical community. The role uplifts skills, shapes early-stage opportunities, and embeds Lenovo’s pocket-to-cloud AI narrative across the ecosystem. It bridges Partner Account Managers (L1) and deep technical specialists (L3), providing credible guidance on servers, storage, edge, virtualization, and data centre software to drive partner confidence and preference for Lenovo solutions.

Core Objectives:

  • Build and lead the Lenovo partner technical community
  • Accelerate capability through structured enablement and certifications
  • Deliver strong thought leadership and consistent AI/DC storytelling in-market.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Leadership

  • Establish and grow a high-impact community of partner solution architects, presales engineers, and CTOs.
  • Run a cadence of technical rituals: monthly technical briefings, quarterly CTO councils, hands-on labs/build days, roadmap previews.
  • Curate a content calendar (AI/edge/DC) aligned with global/regional narratives; localise for ANZ.

Partner Technical Enablement

  • Design and deliver structured learning pathways and certification accelerators (foundation → advanced).
  • Develop practical workshops, reference architectures, and lab guides that shorten time-to-confidence.
  • Track enablement progress per partner; report uplift, gaps, and next actions.
  • Thought Leadership & Advocacy
  • Articulate Lenovo’s pocket-to-cloud AI story with clarity across technical and executive audiences.
  • Publish technical briefs, competitive notes, and solution playbooks for partner consumption.
  • Present at partner events, user groups, and industry forums; act as spokesperson for ISG solutions.
  • Opportunity Shaping (L2)
  • Support Partner Account Managers with early-stage technical discovery, sizing, and positioning.
  • Qualify when to engage L3 specialists; brief them with clear context, architectures, and next steps.
  • Maintain a light deal desk for technical Q&A, TCO guidance, and competitive differentiation.

Intelligence & Feedback Loop

  • Capture partner and customer insights to inform regional plans and global roadmaps.
  • Monitor competitive messaging and propose counter-strategies.
  • Provide regular reporting on community health, enablement outcomes, and influenced pipeline.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • 7–10+ years across presales, solutions architecture, technical consulting, or partner engineering.
  • Strong knowledge across servers, storage, virtualization, data protection, containers/orchestration, and edge.
  • Demonstrated ability to design or guide real-world deployments (POCs, pilots, migrations).
  • Outstanding presenter and facilitator; comfortable with whiteboarding and executive storytelling.
  • Commercial acumen in the channel: partner business models, margins, attach, and pipeline mechanics.
