Senior Solutions Engineer, Infrastructure
Position Overview
The Senior Solutions Engineer, Infrastructure is a senior technical sales role within Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), responsible for leading solution design and technical engagement throughout the sales lifecycle.
The role partners closely with Account Managers and cross-functional teams to translate customer business requirements into scalable, integrated infrastructure solutions across servers, storage, AI, and hybrid cloud environments. The position plays a critical role in driving solution revenue, shaping complex opportunities, and ensuring successful deal closure.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Customer Engagement
- Lead technical discovery sessions to assess customer business and IT requirements
- Design and architect end-to-end infrastructure solutions, combining hardware, software, and services components.
- Act as the primary technical advisor and subject matter expert for ISG solutions
- Deliver customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements
Presales & Opportunity Management
- Support Account Managers in opportunity qualification, strategy, and execution
- Own technical responses to RFPs, bids, and complex solution proposals
- Develop compelling solution value propositions aligned to customer outcomes
- Engage stakeholders across technical and business functions to drive deal progression
Revenue Growth & Business Impact
- Drive solution revenue, gross profit, and pipeline growth within account managers assigned accounts
- Identify and pursue cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Lenovo portfolios
- Contribute to portfolio expansion, including AI, hybrid cloud, and edge solutions
Collaboration & One Lenovo Execution
- Work within virtual account teams internally, collaborating with specialists across ISG, services, and PC.
- Technical Advisor for distribution and partners
- Leverage internal and partner resources to deliver optimal customer solutions
- Drive cross-business unit synergy to maximize customer value and Lenovo competitiveness
Technical Leadership & Enablement
- Maintain deep expertise in data center infrastructure, hybrid cloud, and emerging technologies
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers at CIO/CTO level
- Support internal enablement and knowledge sharing across presales teams
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in presales, solution engineering, or technical consulting within IT infrastructure
- Demonstrated success in supporting complex enterprise sales cycles
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of:
- Data center infrastructure (servers, storage, networking)
- Virtualization and hybrid cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft Azure)
- Emerging technologies such as AI, HPC, and container platforms
- Ability to design and articulate end-to-end infrastructure solutions
Business & Sales Acumen
- Strong solution-selling mindset with focus on customer business outcomes
- Experience with enterprise customers, RFP processes, and large-scale deals
- Ability to influence decision-makers and communicate value at executive level
