Why Work at Lenovo
Description and Requirements
Lenovo Digital Trust Lab is hiring a Research Manager to lead and grow the Hybrid Cloud AI Security team. You will own the team’s mission, people, and delivery — hiring and developing engineers and researchers, setting the research agenda, and partnering with technical leadership to secure AI across hybrid cloud, sovereign cloud, and security cloud services. You set the conditions for the team to do its best work and are accountable for the impact, quality, and pace of what it delivers as it protects Enterprise AI and hybrid cloud technologies in production.
Job Responsibilities:
Build and lead the team — hire, develop, and retain engineers and researchers; set clear goals, growth paths, and performance expectations.
Own the team’s roadmap and delivery — translate org priorities into a focused research and engineering agenda for AI security across hybrid cloud, sovereign cloud, and security cloud services, and ensure solutions ship to production with quality and at a healthy pace.
Partner with Staff and senior engineers on technical direction — support the architectural and evaluation decisions that shape Enterprise AI and hybrid cloud security while owning execution, prioritization, and headcount.
Create the conditions for great work — remove blockers, manage cross-team dependencies, and protect the team’s focus and momentum.
Drive the research itself — own the team’s research direction, track frontier trends, and lead the technical design, technical analysis, and business analysis of innovation projects, turning emerging ideas into validated, high-impact bets.
Partner with product leadership and product architects to identify the highest-leverage opportunities and align on priorities.
Represent the team to senior leadership and stakeholders — communicate strategy, progress, risks, and resourcing needs clearly.
Stay close to the field — track frontier model releases, hybrid/sovereign cloud trends, and emerging techniques, and shape how the team turns what is relevant into concrete bets.
Requirements:
BSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of people management experience, or extensive tech-lead experience with clear readiness to move into a management role.
- 7+ years of software development and technical leadership experience, with a track record of delivering production systems or research outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to set direction and drive alignment across teams.
- Solid foundations in Security Engineering, including cloud sovereignty, security governance, AI security, and AISecOps across hybrid, sovereign, and SaaS environments.
- Working knowledge of Enterprise AI and hybrid cloud security, including AI workloads, AI agents, cloud security controls, and hybrid/multi-cloud architectures with data residency and sovereignty requirements.
- Experience with AI agent development, including orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI), MCP (Model Context Protocol), tooling, memory systems, and related agentic patterns.
- Experience with sovereign cloud, regulated industries, or compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, data residency); AI-powered coding and agent workflows; scaling research or engineering teams and hiring pipelines; and/or an advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
