Commercial Contract Manager, SSG, Europe and META
Farnborough, UK
Why Work at Lenovo
Description and Requirements
We are actively seeking an experienced commercial contracts professional with strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. The role of Commercial Contract Manager within Lenovo's Solutions and Services Group (SSG) represents an excellent opportunity to shape complex, high-value deals and contribute to the growth and development of this influential legal function. As a leader in its field, Lenovo offers exposure to large-scale, complex international transactions with top-tier brands and some of the most strategically significant engagements in its portfolio.
As a key commercial partner to SSG across Europe and META, you will support complex services transactions, including DaaS, TruScale, and other managed service offerings. Working at the intersection of commercial strategy, legal frameworks, and delivery reality, you will help ensure deals are shaped to win, structured to perform, and governed to succeed. In doing so, you will play a central role in delivering faster, cleaner deals, enabling Legal to focus on high-impact legal risk while driving stronger contracts, better delivery outcomes, effective risk-for-value decisions, and robust in-life contract management practices.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Signature — Shaping and Closing Complex Deals
- Define the contracting route and design the commercial structure aligned to win strategy and delivery reality, supporting both direct and indirect contracting models.
- Lead contractual deal governance in partnership with Legal Counsel, taking contracts from draft through to signature and developing negotiation strategies that maximise value and manage concessions effectively.
- Set and challenge key commercial and economic levers, including credits, incentives, volume commitments, indexation, true-up/down mechanisms, benchmarking, and termination methodologies, while identifying and mitigating risks.
- Own the commercial elements of contracts, including Service Descriptions, SOWs, SLAs, KPIs, credits, pricing structures, governance, benchmarking, insurance, and termination/exit provisions.
- Partner with Legal on non-standard contractual matters, including liability, indemnities, IP, data protection, information security, governing law, and disputes, ensuring alignment between legal positions and commercial outcomes.
Growth, Enablement and Innovation
- Establish subcontracting processes and a CCM support model, ensuring obligations and terms flow correctly between all parties involved in each transaction.
- Develop and enhance commercial frameworks, tools, and best-practice materials, including SLA/KPI guidance, commercial models, volume commitment options, flexibility frameworks, and legal/commercial playbooks.
- Deliver commercial awareness training across the business and contribute to AI-assisted commercial processes and performance metrics that support consistent, high-quality deal execution and demonstrate the value delivered by the CCM function.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in commercial contract management or a related commercial/legal discipline, with a track record in complex, multi-country IT or telecommunications services contracts.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across SOWs, SLAs/KPIs, pricing structures, service descriptions, and enterprise technology or managed services agreements, with demonstrated negotiation leadership on high-value transactions.
- Experience partnering with legal, sales, delivery, and finance teams in a deal-driven environment, with strong commercial acumen, sound judgement, and the ability to balance legal, commercial, and technical contract requirements.
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Confident and professional in customer-facing negotiations, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, GSI partners, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with technology financing models (IT asset leasing, device lifecycle management, equipment financing) and/or subscription-based “as-a-service” commercial models such as DaaS, IaaS, or TruScale-type offerings.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment within changing commercial frameworks and governance programmes, with strong communication skills, professional ethics, and experience delivering commercial training or enablement to non-commercial audiences.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- Holiday purchase scheme and support for a positive work-life balance.
- Private medical cover, life insurance, and income protection.
- Attractive pension scheme.
- Learning and development opportunities.
- Employee discounts on Lenovo and Motorola products, plus a wide range of lifestyle discounts.
- Cycle to Work scheme and MyGymDiscounts membership benefits.
- Mortgage advice and support services.
- Employee referral bonus programme.
- Free onsite parking.
