Description and Requirements
The Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) Senior Technology Sales Engineer Rep is an inside technical sales expert for Lenovo's Data Center product line as a member of the Lenovo Expert Technical Sales (LETS) team.
The candidate will respond to technical requests (solution design, build configurations, demos, etc) from Lenovo Sales, Lenovo Technical Sales, and Lenovo Partners to drive and progress sales opportunities.
Candidate must reside within the Pacific Northwest/AZ territory.
The responsibilities include:
- Architecting solutions for the Data Center from the Lenovo portfolio of products and partnerships, including AI Servers and HPC Clusters.
- Building configurations, conducting systems management demos, and reviewing interoperability and technical issues to achieve client solution needs.
- Driving and supporting sales to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Contributing to technical responses for proposal requests.
- Assisting/training channel partners with tool usage and technical direction.
- Designing and sizing HPC and AI infrastructure solutions that balance compute, accelerator (GPU, DPU), memory, storage, networking, power, cooling, and management requirements for customer workloads.
- Advising customers and partners on HPC cluster architecture, including CPU and GPU node selection, high-speed interconnects, parallel storage, job schedulers, systems management, and deployment considerations.
Further, we are looking for strong individuals who:
- Can adeptly translate customer’s Data Center needs and problems into technical solutions.
- Can understand and articulate Lenovo’s vision, strategy, and architectural approach to a wide variety of Data Center solution spaces: AI, HyperConverged, Servers, Virtualization, Storage, HPC, and Systems Management.
- Work in partnership with sales teams and partners to drive solutions business.
- Interface with partners, integrators and other go-to-market channels to help plan and execute a Lenovo Data Center solutions sales plan.
- Can evaluate customer HPC workloads such as simulation, modeling, analytics, AI training, and research computing, then map those requirements to scalable Lenovo infrastructure designs.
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a technical sales role or 5+ years’ experience as a Data Center systems administrator.
- Knowledge and experience with VMware, Linux, Hyper-V, Windows Server, NetApp Storage, Azure, Nutanix, systems management products.
- Knowledge and experience with x86 servers and storage arrays. Added consideration for Lenovo Servers and Storage knowledge.
- Working knowledge of HPC cluster building blocks, including compute nodes, GPU acceleration, InfiniBand or high-speed Ethernet fabrics, shared storage, and Linux-based cluster environments.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proven track record in designing winning major server, networking, and/or storage solutions for Data Center clients.
- Excellent consultative selling skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications; strong listening skills and ability to adapt client’s needs; polished and adaptive presentation skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to drive technical collaboration across diverse customer and internal groups.
- Knowledge and experience architecting server and desktop virtualization, software defined solutions, backup business continuity solutions (Veeam, Commvault), systems management, server consolidation, sizing solutions, and data center operations.
- Added consideration experience in design and/or operation of HPC cluster.
- Experience designing HPC environments using workload managers such as Slurm, PBS, or LSF; parallel file systems such as Lustre, BeeGFS, or IBM Storage Scale; and high-performance networking technologies.
- Familiarity with GPU-accelerated computing, MPI-based applications, containerized HPC/AI workflows, and performance considerations for tightly coupled scientific and engineering workloads.
