Automation Development Engineer (Server Validation & Test Automation)

As part of our Product Assurance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Lenovo's next-generation server platforms by developing automation solutions that accelerate validation, improve test coverage, and support world-class product delivery.

What You'll Do

As an Automation Development Engineer, you will design and develop automation solutions that enable efficient validation of enterprise server products throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks, diagnostic tools, and test solutions for Lenovo server platforms.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, validation, and system engineering teams to understand testing requirements and transform them into automation solutions.
  • Develop and optimize test scripts that improve validation efficiency, scalability, and product quality.
  • Support server management and automation activities using industry-standard interfaces such as IPMI, Redfish, and REST APIs.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex validation issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive effective resolutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to increase automation coverage and engineering productivity.
  • Participate in technical discussions with global engineering teams and, when required, support customer-facing technical engagements.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in software development, automation engineering, validation, or test automation within the server, enterprise hardware, storage, or data center industry.
  • Strong programming and scripting capabilities in Python.
  • Experience developing automation tools, test frameworks, or validation solutions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server architecture and hardware validation concepts.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive resolution.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Server firmware validation or platform validation
  • x86 server architecture
  • BMC technologies
  • IPMI
  • Redfish / REST APIs
  • Performance, stress, reliability, or system-level testing
  • PowerShell, C#, or other automation programming languages
  • Automation development within ODM/OEM server environments
