Description and Requirements

📋 Overall Description: Lenovo is seeking a Counsel, Legal to join its Global Contracts Team (GCT). This role reports to the Lead Sr. Counsel, North America, and will provide legal support across North America with a focus on sales and procurement contracts and related commercial transactions. The successful candidate will apply project management, process innovation, and technology to the delivery of legal work in a way that improves both risk mitigation and efficiency.

Position responsibilities include contract drafting, negotiation, and review, along with providing advice and counsel on legal, compliance, and business matters, including risk-and-reward analysis and the presentation of options and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

The position will collaborate with internal and outside counsel, technology experts, sales and marketing teams, and product developers, as well as with Lenovo's customers and suppliers, as needed. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of legal experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements, ideally within a technology company. Strong communication and presentation skills are necessary to explain complex matters to business partners in a manner that is readily understandable, ensuring well-informed business decisions.

🚀 Specifically, this role is responsible for:

  • Negotiating a high volume of complex technology agreements, sales and partnering agreements, and services, vendor, and supplier agreements, along with a variety of other commercial contracts, including confidentiality agreements, license agreements, data processing agreements, professional services agreements, assignments, and amendments
  • Developing and implementing legal efficiencies to support business teams and improve contract processes and operations
  • Improving and creating contract templates and playbooks
  • Working closely with clients and the legal team on strategic initiatives in support of all business units
  • Providing proactive advice regarding business issues, legal issues, and related risks

Requirements:

  • JD or LLM degree and admission to practice law.
  • 8+ years of drafting and negotiation experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably focused on technology transactions.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in a highly customer-focused environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills, with a willingness to get into the details of complex problems and drive creative solutions.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Demonstrated exceptional judgment and integrity, with the ability to give practical advice that appropriately weighs legal and business objectives.
  • A strong team player who works well with colleagues across all functional groups.
  • Committed to personal growth and development by actively seeking feedback and responding with constructive action.

  • Languages: Portuguese (native proficiency) - English (fluent) - Spanish (preferred)
