We are looking for an exceptional Chief of Staff, AI Engineering to partner directly with the Executive Director of AI Engineering in driving strategy, execution, and operational excellence across Lenovo’s global Qira AI organization.


Location: US Remote, Chicago, IL is highly preferred.

About the Role

This is a highly strategic leadership role for an experienced engineering operations and technical program leader who thrives in fast paced, high growth technology environments.

As the Chief of Staff, you will serve as the operational leader for the Qira AI Engineering organization, helping drive execution across our most critical initiatives, including Personal AI, Enterprise AI, User World Model, AI Research, and the Qira AI Platform. You will partner closely with engineering, product, design, research, legal, security, and executive leadership to ensure alignment, remove organizational obstacles, and accelerate delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex organizational challenges, building scalable operating models, and leading large cross functional engineering programs.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner directly with the Executive Director of AI Engineering to execute the strategic vision and priorities for Lenovo’s global Qira AI organization.
  • Lead execution of complex engineering initiatives across AI research, platform engineering, product development, infrastructure, and commercialization.
  • Drive cross functional alignment across engineering, product management, design, research, security, legal, privacy, business, and executive leadership.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering operating mechanisms, including annual planning, quarterly business reviews, roadmap governance, release readiness, executive dashboards, and engineering metrics.
  • Partner with engineering leaders to improve execution quality, engineering productivity, delivery predictability, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead technical program governance across multiple global engineering teams and ensure successful execution of strategic programs.
  • Identify execution risks, organizational bottlenecks, and cross team dependencies while driving rapid resolution.
  • Develop executive presentations, strategic planning documents, engineering communications, and leadership updates for senior executives.
  • Support organizational planning, budgeting, workforce planning, vendor management, and strategic investment decisions.
  • Drive adoption of engineering best practices, AI governance, software development processes, and operational excellence.
  • Represent the AI Engineering organization in executive reviews and cross functional leadership forums.
  • Build scalable operational processes that enable the organization to grow rapidly while maintaining execution excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large scale software engineering programs, engineering operations, or technical program management.
  • Experience supporting senior engineering executives, CTOs, VPs, or Heads of Engineering.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex software platforms involving multiple engineering organizations.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, cloud platforms, AI technologies, and large scale product development.
  • Excellent executive communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience managing globally distributed engineering organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Experience delivering AI, machine learning, cloud, enterprise software, or developer platforms.
  • Experience building operational models for rapidly growing engineering organizations.
  • Experience with engineering productivity, release management, engineering metrics, and organizational scaling.
  • Strong familiarity with modern engineering tools including GitHub, GitHub Actions, Linear, Monday, Azure, Jira, and AI powered developer tools.
  • Experience working within large global technology companies.

Success in Your First 12 Months

  • Establish a scalable operating model for Lenovo’s global Qira AI Engineering organization.
  • Improve execution predictability and visibility across strategic AI programs.
  • Build executive dashboards and engineering health metrics that enable data driven decision making.
  • Strengthen planning, governance, and engineering operating rhythms across global teams.
  • Accelerate delivery of key Qira initiatives, including Personal AI, Enterprise AI, User World Model, and the Qira AI Platform.
  • Become a trusted advisor and operational partner to the Executive Director of AI Engineering and the broader leadership team.
The base salary budgeted range for this position is $180K - $210K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
