Description and Requirements

This role requires a strategic communicator, creative thinker, and operational leader who can balance short-term execution with long-term vision. You must be able to bring forward innovative communication approaches, influence senior stakeholders, manage complex cross-functional relationships, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications Leadership

  • Develop and lead the overall communications strategy for the CTO Organization, aligned to Lenovo's corporate objectives, CTO priorities, and long-term technology vision.
  • Establish both short-term and multi-year communication roadmaps that drive awareness, engagement, and visibility of CTOO initiatives, innovations, and business impact.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CTO leadership on executive communications, organizational messaging, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, AI advancements, and innovation initiatives into compelling stories for diverse audiences.

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement

  • Own and execute the internal communications strategy for CTOO, ensuring employees understand organizational priorities, accomplishments, key decisions, and strategic direction.
  • Develop innovative communication campaigns that strengthen employee engagement, culture, collaboration, and organizational pride.
  • Promote CTOO achievements, innovation milestones, patents, research breakthroughs, customer impact, and thought leadership across Lenovo.
  • Build and maintain integrated communication calendars covering executive messages, newsletters, All Hands meetings, webcasts, intranet content, and employee engagement programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness through new channels, technologies, AI-enabled tools, and best practices.

Brand Building & Organizational Promotion

  • Develop programs that elevate the CTO Organization's visibility across Lenovo and externally with key stakeholders.
  • Create compelling narratives that position CTOO as a leading innovation engine driving Lenovo's AI and technology strategy.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications, Marketing, HR, and business groups to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated promotion of CTOO accomplishments.
  • Identify opportunities to showcase CTOO talent, innovation, and leadership through strategic campaigns, events, publications, and executive engagements.

External Communications & Thought Leadership

  • Own the external communications strategy for CTOO, including media engagement, analyst relations, industry events, publications, and executive thought leadership.
  • Define communication priorities, audience segmentation, messaging frameworks, governance, and execution plans that support CTOO objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize media outlets, analysts, conferences, and industry engagement opportunities that enhance CTOO visibility and influence.
  • Develop executive briefing materials, keynote content, articles, social amplification strategies, and leadership communications that strengthen Lenovo's technology brand.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance

  • Establish and operate effective communication governance models across CTOO teams, geographies, and external partners.
  • Build strong partnerships with leaders across CTOO, Business Groups, Corporate Communications, and regional organizations.
  • Create communication operating rhythms, stakeholder engagement models, review processes, and decision frameworks that ensure alignment and execution excellence.
  • Lead through influence and drive accountability across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate emerging communication trends, AI technologies, digital engagement platforms, and storytelling approaches.
  • Introduce innovative ideas and programs that improve communication reach, effectiveness, and employee engagement.
  • Use data and insights to measure impact, optimize communication strategies, and inform leadership decisions.
  • Establish success metrics and reporting mechanisms to demonstrate business value and organizational impact.

Program Management & Execution Excellence

  • Maintain end-to-end ownership of communication plans, deliverables, milestones, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Manage short-term priorities while building scalable, sustainable long-term communications programs.
  • Monitor progress against objectives, proactively identify risks, and drive timely resolution of issues.
  • Ensure all communications meet high standards of quality, consistency, professionalism, and executive presence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in public relations, journalism, communications, English, or media studies
  • Minimum of 12 years of work experience (in-house or agency) in communications, public relations, and/or journalism
  • Fluent English and Mandarin speaking and writing skills required.
  • Prior experience working in/with the technology industry is required.
  • Experience supporting communications (PR or Exec Communications) for C-suite level executives/clients
  • Strong writing skills - please provide 2 of your best writing samples when applying
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong time and project management skills - with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively to meet deadlines

Preferred Requirements

  • The candidate for this role should be an excellent writer, project manager, and have an eye and attention for detail. A self-starter attitude is essential.
