Description and Requirements

Position Overview

Lenovo's channel business spans hundreds of distributors, resellers and retail partners across Asia Pacific. The systems that govern how we price to them, how we reward them, and how we track inventory through them form the operational backbone of that business — and they are currently undergoing a full digital re-platforming.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the Channel Systems product line: Rebate, Pricing, SISTSO / 3S Management and Channel Product Management. This is an IT software product role. You will sit between Sales Operations, Channel Finance and Engineering, and your core value is translating complex commercial policy into scalable, auditable system logic. Commercial target attainment and partner-facing promotion sit with the Sales organisation; you are accountable for the roadmap, the requirement quality, the delivery outcome and the technical fitness of the platform in the Malaysia and wider AP market.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Own the multi-year roadmap for one or more channel systems (Rebate / Pricing / SISTSO 3S / Channel Product Management), balancing global platform/template standards against Geo/Market specific requirements.

  • Define measurable delivery and quality indicators for each release — rebate calculation accuracy, quote approval cycle time, sell-through data completeness, interface reconciliation pass rate, defect leakage — and manage the backlog against them.

  • Break the roadmap into deliverable phases: define what constitutes the MVP for each initiative and what is deferred, and sequence releases so that business value lands early rather than in one big-bang go-live.

Requirements, Grooming & IT Solution Design

  • Gather requirements at source: work directly with Sales Operations, Channel Finance, Pricing and Supply Chain to clarify vague or verbal commercial policy, and write it up as unambiguous, testable requirements.

  • Run backlog grooming with the IT team — walk through each requirement, answer the open questions, agree acceptance criteria, confirm effort and dependencies, and get stories to a ready state before sprint planning.

  • Master the underlying channel logic: how rebates are accrued and settled, how price protection and special pricing get approved, how multi-tier discounts are calculated, how sell-in / sell-through / sell-out are reconciled, and how channel inventory ageing works.

  • Design the IT solution, not just the screens: process flows, data models, document state transitions, approval routing, and clickable prototypes (Figma / Axure / draw.io).

  • Define system boundaries and interfaces clearly: what this system exchanges with SAP / ERP, CRM, Partner Portal, BI and MDM — who sends what, when, in what state the data lands, what happens on a repeated call, and how a mismatch gets corrected.

  • Write the exception and blocker paths into the requirement: approval rejected, data won't reconcile, customer on credit hold, policy adjusted retroactively, month-end and quarter-end close windows.

  • Control scope and protect the MVP: split a large ask into an MVP plus follow-on phases, hold the line on what is in and out for each release, assess the impact of mid-sprint changes, and make sure the committed MVP lands on time and works.

AI-Enabled Product Capability

  • Identify and deliver AI use cases within the channel domain — for example intelligent price recommendation, rebate anomaly detection, natural-language querying of channel data, document and contract parsing, or an operations copilot for partner support.

  • Define the product requirements for AI features to engineering standard: data readiness, prompt and rule boundaries, human-in-the-loop review points, output confidence handling, hallucination and fallback strategy, and auditability of AI-assisted decisions.

  • Apply AI tooling to your own product workflow — requirement consolidation, specification drafting, prototype generation, test case derivation and data analysis — to raise delivery throughput.

Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with a China-based IT team through the full agile lifecycle: backlog grooming, sprint planning, UAT, release and hypercare.

  • Align Sales Operations, Channel Finance and DT team on requirement scope and ISR(IT solution) sign-off decisions.

  • Organise business-user UAT, validate that delivered functionality matches the intended business logic, and own defect triage and resolution through to production sign-off.

  • Own Key User Training (KUT) and End User Training (EUT) as part of the go-live path: design the training scope and curriculum, prepare training material, system manuals and demo scenarios, deliver KUT sessions to business key users, and support or run EUT roll-out to end users across the covered markets.

  • Collect and triage questions and defects surfaced during KUT / EUT, feed them back into the backlog, and refresh training and product documentation for each subsequent release.

  • Maintain product documentation and functional handover material for the operations and support teams.

Data-Driven Iteration

  • Instrument the product; use system usage data, financial variance reports and business-user feedback to prioritize the backlog.

  • Identify manual workarounds and Excel-based processes in channel operations and convert them into system capability.

Requirement

Experience

5–8+ years in To B / enterprise software product management, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a complete product line

Domain

Mandatory hands-on product experience in at least one of: Channel Management, CRM, ERP, Pricing / CPQ, or Rebate / Commission / Incentive systems

Business Acumen

Proven ability to model complex commercial and financial logic — price structures, discount hierarchies, accrual and settlement, or distributor inventory management

AI Capability

Required. Practical command of mainstream AI tooling, and the ability to judge where AI is and is not the right solution within an enterprise system; able to write clear requirements for AI-enabled features

Technical Depth

Able to hold a design-level conversation with engineering on data models, API contracts and system boundaries; able to write basic SQL for self-service data validation

Methodology

Fluent in Agile / Scrum; comfortable working with a distributed engineering team across time zones

Language

Excellent business English (working language in Malaysia). Professional Chinese strongly preferred for direct collaboration with China-based R&D

Training Delivery

Confident delivering system training and demos to business audiences; able to author training material and user manuals in both English and Chinese

Tooling

Proficient with Figma / Axure, JIRA / Confluence

Education

Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Delivered at least one AI / machine-learning product feature into production in an enterprise context — candidates with such experience will be prioritized.

  • Background in a large multinational top IT related operations.

  • Deep working knowledge of SISTSO (Sell-in / Sell-through / Sell-out) logic and familiarity with Lenovo's 3S strategy context.

  • Experience delivering products across multiple markets with differing rebate policy, tax, currency and regulatory requirements.

  • Exposure to data platform work — data warehouse modelling, BI dashboards or master data governance.

  • Experience migrating legacy channel systems onto a modern cloud platform.

  • UIUX expert should be a plus.
