Lenovo is currently seeking a Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) Trade Compliance Specialist to join our North America team. This role will support international trade operations, FTZ compliance, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements within a growing and dynamic operation.
The FTZ Trade Compliance Specialist will help ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements while navigating the complex and rapidly evolving U.S. trade and customs environment. This role will be responsible for supporting effective trade compliance processes, maintaining accurate FTZ records and inventory, mitigating regulatory risk, and supporting Lenovo’s broader international trade operations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee documentation related to FTZ operations and customs clearance in accordance with CBP rules and regulations
- Support FTZ admissions, transfers, withdrawals, and consumption entries while ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Maintain FTZ inventory accuracy and research and resolve inventory balance discrepancies
- Ensure proper recordkeeping and documentation in accordance with CBP requirements and established document retention procedures
- Conduct audits of FTZ files and supporting documentation to identify and address potential compliance gaps
- Support post-entry activities and responses to CBP inquiries, including CF28 and CF29 requests
- Ensure compliance with Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, applicable tariffs, licensing requirements, and other import regulations
- Assist with FTZ reporting, reconciliation, and periodic compliance activities
- Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and country-of-origin verification
- Analyze tariffs and trade measures, including Section 301 and other applicable tariff programs, to assess duty exposure and business impact
- Leverage data analytics to identify anomalies, compliance gaps, and opportunities for process improvement
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external service providers to support compliant and efficient import and FTZ operations
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs regulations, and/or FTZ operations
- Strong understanding of U.S. import regulations and trade compliance requirements including classification, valuation, trade agreements, and FTZ operations
- Demonstrated ability to use data analytics to identify anomalies, compliance risks, and process gaps
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in international trade, customs compliance, supply chain, or Foreign-Trade Zone operations
- Strong operational experience in U.S. import and trade compliance processes
- Direct experience with import and export processes and related documentation
- Hands-on FTZ experience including admissions, transfers, withdrawals, and consumption entries
- Working knowledge of the U.S. import entry process and CBP rules and regulations
- Knowledge of HTS classification, country-of-origin requirements, and rules of origin
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated commitment to documentation and data accuracy
- Experience working with SAP/ERP platforms, and/or trade compliance management systems
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs regulations, and/or FTZ operations
