Description and Requirements

Role Summary

The Advisory BMC Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for driving the architecture, design, and delivery of BMC firmware and platform management solutions for next-generation hyperscale server platforms. This role partners directly with customers, platform architects, and engineering leaders to define technical direction, resolve complex system challenges, and ensure successful deployment of scalable server management technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced BMC firmware and platform management solutions across Intel, AMD, and storage server platforms.
  • Define technical roadmaps and drive end-to-end delivery of strategic BMC features from concept through production release.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customers on BMC architecture, platform management capabilities, and escalated technical issues.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex firmware, hardware, interoperability, and system-level issues.
  • Guide engineering teams in designing scalable, maintainable, and industry-compliant server management solutions.
  • Review architecture proposals, code implementations, and technical specifications to ensure technical excellence.
  • Influence platform management strategy, including adoption of emerging technologies and industry standards such as Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, and OpenBMC.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects, BIOS teams, validation teams, and program leadership to align technical execution with business objectives.
  • Mentor and develop engineers by providing technical leadership, design guidance, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to platform reliability, firmware quality, engineering productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in server platform development with extensive BMC firmware expertise.
  • Strong understanding of hyperscale server architectures, platform management frameworks, and server lifecycle management.
  • Deep experience in embedded software development using C/C++ and Linux-based systems.
  • Proven expertise in Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, PLDM, OpenBMC, or related server management technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Extensive experience working directly with hyperscale customers and handling critical escalations.
  • Strong system architecture, problem-solving, and technical leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive OpenBMC architecture and customization experience.
  • Experience leading platform management development for hyperscale cloud providers.
  • Knowledge of security technologies such as SPDM, secure boot, attestation, and platform security frameworks.
  • Experience influencing industry standards and driving technology adoption across multiple product generations.
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or serving as technical lead for firmware teams.
