The Mobile Workstation Product Manager is responsible for defining, developing, and managing products within the ThinkPad Mobile Workstation portfolio. Based at the U.S. headquarters in Morrisville, North Carolina, this role translates customer workflows, market trends, competitive insights, and technology roadmaps into differentiated products that deliver workstation-class performance, reliability, mobility, and professional-grade capabilities.
The role partners closely with Product Development, Engineering, Industrial Design, User Experience, Procurement, Operations, Manufacturing, Service, Finance, Worldwide Marketing, Sales, regional product teams, ISVs, and technology partners to bring compelling mobile workstation offerings to market.
Key Responsibilities:- Own the strategy, roadmap, and positioning for assigned Mobile Workstation products
- Lead as core member of a cross-disciplinary team (OCT) that is responsible for developing and launching new Mobile Workstation offerings
- Translate customer workflows, market trends, and competitive insights into clear product requirements and differentiated offerings
- Define AI-ready platforms for local AI development, inference, and professional application workflows across CPU, GPU, NPU, memory, storage, thermals, and software
- Build business cases and manage product trade-offs across performance, features, cost, complexity, schedule, and risk
- Represent the voice of customers and regional teams in product planning, architecture decisions, and executive reviews
- Partner with Engineering, Development, Procurement, suppliers, ISVs, and technology partners to drive product execution
- Monitor product performance and drive lifecycle improvements and future portfolio opportunities
The ideal candidate combines strategic product thinking, strong technical and commercial judgment, customer focus, and disciplined execution. This individual must be comfortable leading in a global, cross-functional environment, influencing without direct authority, and making clear recommendations when priorities or requirements conflict.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field preferred
- Experience in commercial PCs, mobile workstations, professional graphics, or adjacent professional-computing markets preferred
- Ability to translate customer workflows and technical requirements into differentiated product strategies
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities with the ability to use market, customer, financial, and competitive data to guide decisions
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive-communication skills
- Responsible for presenting product checkpoints to executives, in addition to product presentations at tradeshows, media events, and customer events
- Demonstrated ability to work in global cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Strong planning, prioritization, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills
- Fluent in English
- Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 10%
- 5+ years of product management and/or technical experience
