Why Work at Lenovo
Description and Requirements
As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will lead complex, high-value technical infrastructure deployments across EMEA, with an initial hiring focus in Romania. You will take end-to-end ownership of project governance and delivery, bringing structure, direction, and executive-level visibility to deployments involving multiple customers, vendors, service providers, and internal teams.
This is a senior, hands-on role requiring a strong combination of technical understanding, complex project leadership, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management. The position requires significant flexibility for international travel within EMEA, typically 1–2 trips per month, with some deployments potentially requiring one or two weeks per month on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex, high-value AI infrastructure, data-centre, and technical deployments from mobilisation and planning through installation, commissioning, acceptance, and operational handover.
- Establish and maintain integrated project plans, critical paths, milestones, dependencies, resources, governance cadence, RAID controls, change management, and recovery plans.
- Coordinate customer, internal, vendor, OEM, data-centre, colocation, logistics, construction, and specialist delivery teams, ensuring clear ownership and accountability for agreed milestones.
- Provide leadership across interdependent technical workstreams, including compute, network, storage, software, power, cooling, site readiness, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Lead project mobilisation and delivery-readiness activities, ensuring scope, assumptions, resources, schedules, acceptance criteria, and delivery dependencies are understood and executable before implementation.
- Own project financial and commercial controls, including budgets, forecasts, resource utilisation, contractual obligations, supplier performance, change requests, and protection of project profitability.
- Build trusted relationships with senior customer, partner, and internal stakeholders, providing clear executive reporting and driving timely decisions, escalations, trade-offs, and recovery actions.
- Coordinate manufacturing, supply-chain, logistics, testing, and site-readiness dependencies to ensure equipment and services are delivered complete, compliant, and aligned with the overall deployment plan.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; PMP, PRINCE2, or an equivalent project management qualification is preferred, with Agile or hybrid delivery certification considered an advantage.
- Significant senior project management experience, ideally 10+ years, leading complex, high-value technical programmes or deployments, with experience in mission-critical data-centre, AI infrastructure, or comparable technology environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of large-scale infrastructure deployments, ideally including GPU/accelerated compute, high-density racks, networking, storage, software, electrical infrastructure, cooling, and data-centre environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex project planning and governance, including critical-path management, budgets, resources, RAID management, change control, quality, delivery readiness, and recovery planning.
- Proven ability to manage multiple vendors, OEMs, suppliers, service providers, contractors, and customer stakeholders across geographically distributed projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project financials, contractual commitments, supplier performance, and commercial change in high-value customer environments.
- Fluent English is required, with excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, executive presentation, stakeholder-management, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong leadership and sound judgement, with the ability to create structure in ambiguous environments, influence senior stakeholders, make decisions under pressure, and travel frequently across EMEA, including longer on-site stays when required.
