Position Overview: As the Lead Data Availability Engineer at Macy's, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, security, and quality of our data assets for our non-Prod environments. You will lead a team responsible for data provisioning, data masking, and the implementation of data as code practices. This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering, data security, and automation, along with the ability to lead and drive innovation in our data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Provisioning: Lead the design and implementation of data provisioning pipelines, ensuring that data is available to stakeholders when and where it is needed.
• Data Masking: Develop and maintain data masking strategies to protect sensitive information while maintaining data utility for testing and development purposes.
• Data as Code: Champion the implementation of data as code principles, automating data infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment.
• Data Security: Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to establish and enforce data security policies, access controls, and encryption standards.
• Automation: Implement automation tools and practices to streamline data provisioning, deployment, and monitoring processes.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance and support to achieve data availability and security goals.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and testing processes.
• Data Run Books : Maintain comprehensive documentation of data provisioning, masking, and data as code procedures and best practices.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and software developers, to understand their data requirements and provide efficient solutions.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data provisioning and masking processes for efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data provisioning, data masking, and automation.
• Proficiency in data engineering tools and languages, such as SQL, Python, Scala, or similar.
• Service Virtualization experience is required, Hoverfly, GoMock or other
• Experience with data provisioning technologies and platforms (e.g., Genrocket, Delphix, Talend, Informatica).
• Knowledge of data masking techniques and tools (e.g., Delphix, Informatica Persistent Data Masking).
• Familiarity with data as code concepts and tools (e.g., GitLab, infrastructure as code).
• Strong understanding of data security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data engineering issues.
• Leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead a team to success.
