Who You'll Work With

You will be based in Tokyo, Japan as part of McKinsey’s Global Client Capability Network (CCN), which includes more than 3,000 diverse professionals delivering distinctive client impact and fueled by a culture of innovation.
You’ll be part of our Local C&I team for Japan who covers multiple topics such as macro economics, sustainability, public sector, energy and more. You will also work closely as an affiliate member of our global EPNG (Electric Power & Natural Gas) knowledge network, covering topics such as energy transition incl. renewables, strategy/corporate finance, transmission & distribution (T&D) or retail markets largely in Japan.
There is a flexibility to hire at Junior Analyst or Analyst level depending on the candidate's experience.

What You'll Do

You will work with McKinsey consultants in a fast-paced environment to conduct end-to-end research in response to specific requests.
You will research, analyze, and synthesize key client questions as well as identify data, information, and analyses to support problem-solving efforts and targeted industry research.
Your responsibilities will also include synthesizing findings by preparing McKinsey-formatted end-products through models, presentations, and written communications.
You will proactively develop and codify knowledge on new, emerging topics that are relevant to McKinsey and our clients in the various industries, together with your research colleagues around the world. You will act as a thought partner to client teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in business, engineering or economics with a very good academic record
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Interest, knowledge, experience in the electric power and/or natural gas industry; either after finishing studies and/or via internships will be advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving skills and conceptual abilities with an analytical mindset
  • Excellent business acumen and understanding of the main business, economic and financial concepts and terminology
  • Abilities in collection, analysis and synthesis of information and knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English language
  • Strong multitasking abilities, service-oriented personality, intellectual curiosity and an investigative mind
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
