Who You'll Work With

You’ll work in our Advanced Industries practice as part of the EV Insights asset. Electric Vehicles (EV) Insights is a comprehensive solution provided by the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility (MCFM) that offers detailed intelligence and analytics on product development, product technology and manufacturing costs of an electric vehicle.

Your impact within our firm

Your job will include gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations. You may also be responsible for presenting results to client management and implementing recommendations with client team members.
You’ll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. Associates receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on their teams.There is flexibility to hire at the Research Science Specialist level, depending on candidate’s experience.
You will work in a small team along with deep experts in the mobility space. You will play a multifaceted role, contributing to various aspects of electric vehicle (EV) design, strategy, and market analysis. Below is a sample of the type of work you will do:
- Subsystem and Component Analysis: You will conduct detailed analysis of subsystems and components to identify savings opportunities, delivering top-down cost insights that match the rigor of clients' bottom-up analysis at a fraction of the time and cost. You will use tools like the parametric cost model, cleansheet and more to generate and deliver insights
- EV Growth Strategies: You will develop growth strategies for electric vehicles, helping clients navigate the evolving market landscape
- Tailored Client Delivery: You will offer tailored client delivery providing vehicle- and component-level data, benchmarking, and product expertise
- In-Person Workshops:You will participate in-person workshops to help clients understand and implement best practices in EV design and manufacturing
- Collaboration with Other Firm Capabilities:You will work in partnership with other firm capabilities to develop comprehensive client facing tools and assets

Your qualifications and skills

  • Strong analytical ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Engineering background preferred,
  • Strong interest or experience in the mobility space preferred
  • interest or experience in cleansheeting and other cost models
