Your Impact

You will help drive the external and internal marketing and communications activities of country and/or region.
In terms of the project management: you will contribute to defining appropriate best-in-class communications and events objectives and strategies to achieve them (e.g. flagship events for clients and alumni, paid/earned media, web articles, newsletters). In addition, you will lead complex projects independently or with designated team, aligning with key stakeholders as relevant. You will create and drive reputation-building programs through a mix of publishing activities storytelling, messaging documents, presentations). You will lead and execute plans to address routine reputation risks, with appropriate alignment, as relevant. You will manage data through reports and scorecards to track and analyze relevant metrics.
In terms of creating effective communications, you will create holistic, integrated and engaging communications plans and products (e.g., strategic marketing briefs, media releases, short-form content, blogs, talking points/scripts, Q&A), that rigorously follow conventions of written English (and local languages when relevant). You will proactively collaborate with internal and external clients and stakeholders to develop and advise on communications. You will help drive development and execution of communications for reports, special projects, storytelling, external/internal conferences, and/or events (e.g., forums, webinars, roundtables). You will conduct strategic assessments to support execution and prioritization of communication campaigns and events and collate into digestible format for leadership. You will ensure consistent branding (i.e., firm's signature voice, visuals, and narrative) across communications platforms and channels in support of relevant brand pivots.

Your Growth

You will join a group of communications professionals within the firm’s Reach and Engagement (R&E) function, reporting to the Head of Communications Switzerland. Based in Zurich or Geneva, you will contribute to and lead selected internal and external marketing and communications activities for the Swiss Office, whilst collaborating across locations and teams for selected projects.
R&E colleagues help ensure that appropriate insights reach designated audiences, building awareness and engagement with McKinsey’s distinctive knowledge on a variety of topics. They shape the way the firm connects with people—from clients to firm members to alumni—strengthening institutional relationships, connections and affiliations.
Through collaborating with senior communications colleagues, internal leadership and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the development and execution of best-in-class programs, events, and publications on country-level.
You will develop, support and execute creative marketing and communication ideas and tactics that build awareness of McKinsey’s capabilities, knowledge, and assets. You will help shape and protect McKinsey’s reputation, punctuate its expertise, and contribute to bringing campaigns to life in relevant ways across channels, platforms, and stakeholders.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Marketing background with good PR & communications skills desired
  • 5+ years experience in a business communications-related field, in a professional services environment, corporate communications role, marketing and event management or marketing/communications agency
  • Experience handling complex integrated communications programs
  • Mastery of MS Office programs and firm related tools (Box, Slack)
  • Proficiency and fluency in verbal and written English as well as German is required, other language skills (especially French) are a plus
  • In-depth understanding of marketing and communications channels, program design, and delivery
  • Knowledge of global business and/or broad functional content and willingness to go deep into content if necessary
  • Broad skillset across relevant communication service lines and platforms (e.g., external/internal comms, media relations, executive communications, events)
  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., writing, editing, storytelling) across formats (e.g., written, verbal/presentation, digital-ready content), and ability to apply them to develop and execute a strategy across the portfolio of communications channels
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage various projects simultaneously and work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced and ambiguous operating environment.
  • Excellent team player, and ability to manage the needs of different stakeholders (including relevant senior leaders)
  • Outstanding critical reasoning and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • An exemplary drive for quality execution and excellence

  • Ability to provide and receive feedback effectively
