Your Impact
As Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire process of monitoring international business travelers, ensuring payroll tax withholding and compliance across multiple countries, and effectively communicating with affected travelers.
You will collaborate with advisors and local payrolls to understand tax positions and ensure accurate payroll tax withholding for impacted business travelers, reviewing and reconciling income and gross-up tax calculations. You will also manage advisor relationships, ensuring year-end compliance for each location by finalizing authorization lists, handling compensation matters, promptly filing tax returns, and conducting tax reconciliations.
Additionally, you will manage foreign tax credit claims in home locations for business travelers. Your role involves seamless collaboration with various stakeholders, including local payrolls, external advisors, the Partner Accounting Team, the Compensation group, and other firm functions. Furthermore, you will partner with Tax Directors and Senior Managers on issues related to international business travelers and contribute to global and regional projects.
Your Growth
You’ll be part of McKinsey Transferee Tax Team, working in our Gurugram office in India.
The Transferee Tax Group plays a crucial role in supporting both firm leadership and individual transferees by providing expert tax counsel, ensuring that their expertise is used to deliver a valuable strategic international mobility program. They facilitate the international transfer of Partners and other colleagues by clearly communicating the tax implications of such mobility, thereby assisting transferees in adapting to new tax and delivery systems seamlessly.
The team is committed to delivering operational excellence in tax support, approaches, and services tailored for participants in the firm’s mobility programs. The group is also responsible for the tax consequences relating to international business traveler in more than 20 countries each year. They meticulously monitor and manage the tax implications for international business travelers, ensuring compliance and efficiency. The team also collaborates effortlessly with other firm functions, forming a cohesive virtual team with departments such as Mobility, Benefits, Payroll, Accounting and Finance, Legal, and Human Resources, alongside sending and receiving offices and external advisors
Your qualifications and skills
- An excellent academic background, including a recognized tax or accounting qualification.
- Expertise in personal taxes, including at least 5 years’ experience in the management of the personal tax affairs of internationally mobile executives and related social security/payroll withholding issues, gained either in accounting practice or in-house in a large multinational corporation.
- Experience in handling operational and technical aspects of tax-equalization.
- Outstanding tax and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a global team to deliver excellent client service.
- Ability to work independently managing a number of projects at any one time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
