Data & AI Architecture Consultant - McKinsey Lanyue
Job ID: 104669
Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.
Your Impact
You will enable our clients to become truly data-driven and AI-powered by designing and implementing modern data ecosystems, cloud platforms, agentic workflows, and scalable AI solutions.
You will help shape agile analytics practices and foster transformative data and AI culture.
You will have opportunities to work across various domains within our data advisory practice, including data architecture, AI strategy, data analytics, data governance, and agentic system design. You will advise clients on developing and optimizing their conceptual, logical, and AI-augmented data systems. You will assess new data and AI system requirements, design and deploy intelligent data ingestion, storage, integration, and analytical pipelines, and implement data, model, and AI agent migrations.
You will collaborate with clients and data users to establish long-term data and AI architecture goals, document current architectures, and define principles, standards, guidelines, and roadmaps toward target AI-enabled data architectures. You will design and implement data middle-platforms, big data platforms, data warehouses, and AI agent frameworks, and develop advanced analytics, predictive models, agentic automation cases, and interactive KPI dashboards. You will help clients understand how AI and agentic solutions can generate business value, working across industries to build compelling data and AI narratives through dashboards, analytical tools, agent prototypes, and executive presentations.
You will apply deep expertise in data management, AI governance, and agentic infrastructure in end-to-end client engagements. You will establish and promote an enterprise data and AI governance framework, including policies, standards, and practices for responsible AI and automated decision-making. You will articulate the impact of AI and advanced analytics solutions through business storytelling, data visualization, and demonstrations of agentic behavior. You will deconstruct complex client challenges, bringing expertise in AI technologies, agentic systems, analytics methods, tools, and operating models.
You will provide thought leadership on achieving data and AI architecture strategies and drive reviews to ensure solutions meet architectural and ethical AI requirements. You will assist clients in defining AI and data governance frameworks, processes, controls, and agent oversight mechanisms. You will apply hands-on experience with metadata management, master data management, data quality tools, AI platforms, and agentic workflow design. You will lead small teams in fast-paced client projects and manage multiple initiatives across industries, delivering end-to-end data and AI-driven solutions.
You’ll be based in Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen and will work as part of McKinsey’s Lanyue. The mission of this group is to help business leaders build transformative businesses, including new business prototyping and launching, business transformation, etc. Lanyue works with companies that are facing critical transformative moments and need executional and operational level assistance, including but not limited to MNCs, conglomerates as well as segment leaders.
Lanyue leverages a broad base talent network with highly relevant experience, and provides continuous, distinctive support to our clients to ensure they achieve the best business performance. Our consultants are involved from strategy through execution with a disciplined eye on impact and sustainability at every stage of the project life cycle.
Working at Lanyue means career acceleration, entrepreneurship, and professional development. An executive’s ability to lead through change and to obtain measurable results within a team are skills that are very much in demand and therefore valued. Lanyue acts as an exceptional “transformation academy” given the diversity and the level of issues at stakes of interventions. Experience in Lanyue will cultivate central capabilities and hence accelerate career development in an operational executive’s role. Lanyue combines the advantages of a “start-up” - light hierarchy, autonomy, freedom of expression and initiative - and those of a large group - available resources to develop one’s projects.
Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.

Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients.
