Global Mobility Tax Analyst - Transferee Tax
Job ID: 104765
Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.
Your Impact
As a Global Mobility Tax Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the seamless international mobility of McKinsey colleagues, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and minimizing disruption for transferees.
Working closely with the Transferee Tax Group, which manages the tax implications of international mobility for over 500 active transfers annually, you will collaborate with local offices, payroll teams, the Mobility team, and external tax advisors to ensure smooth transitions for transferees. Your responsibilities will include coordinating year-end compliance processes, such as finalizing authorization lists, providing compensation details, resolving queries, and ensuring the timely filing of tax returns and reconciliations. You will also review payroll delivery and accounting in line with mobility policies, ensuring accurate booking of compensation items and preparing compensation packs for external tax advisors.
In addition, you will assist with the review and reconciliation of income tax and gross-up tax calculations on mobility allowances, while supporting internal health checks for mobility-related transactions to manage tax risk and compliance across the firm. Your role will also involve reviewing social tax positions based on the sending and receiving countries and the type of move involved. Furthermore, you will manage relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring high-quality service delivery and effective communication with stakeholders, including local payrolls, the Partner Accounting Team, and the Compensation group.
Your work will help ensure that McKinsey’s international mobility program operates efficiently, enabling colleagues to focus on delivering impact for clients. You will be based in Gurgaon as part of the Transferee Tax Group, a global team of 24 professionals split across Gurgaon and London. This team provides strategic tax counsel, operational excellence, and seamless collaboration with other firm functions to support international mobility.
You will be based in our Gurugram office and will be working with the Transferee Tax team in Gurugram and London. The Group is responsible for the tax consequences relating to business travelers in more than 20 countries each year. They are led by the Leader of Transferee Tax based in London and has 24 team members split across the two locations.
In particular, the Transferee Tax Group provides counsel to firm leadership and to individual transferees and ensures that tax expertise is used to deliver a high value strategic international mobility programme to the firm. The group also facilitates the international transfer of Partners and other staff by communicating the tax consequences of international mobility to transferees and assisting their transition into the new tax and delivery system. They deliver operational excellence in terms of tax support, approach and services for participants in the firm’s mobility programs and are also involved in monitoring and managing the tax implications of international business travelers. In addition to this, this group collaborates with other firm functions in a close virtual team (e.g. with Mobility, Benefits, Payroll, Accounting and Finance, Legal and Human Resources) as well as with sending and receiving offices and external advisors.
