Your Impact

You will work closely with the Canadian Partners, consultants and professional development team, as well as NA recruiting leadership to ensure we are hiring the best talent to meet our hiring needs.
You will also be responsible for leading recruiting efforts on-campus to attract distinctive talent to McKinsey & Company. You will collaborate with consultants and leaders affiliated with the sources to lead the recruiting strategy and execution at those schools to deliver on our overall recruiting priorities.
Your experience in professional services recruiting will serve you as an integral member of the recruiting team.
Key Responsibilities
Office recruiting responsibilities:
Collaborate with Partners, Professional Development and other office leaders to help develop and lead recruiting strategy for the location; build and maintain peer-based relationships with leaders; partner with consultants, source recruiters, and other members of the recruiting community to plan and execute all aspects of core recruiting efforts, including attraction, assessment, cultivation and onboarding.
Provide end-to-end management of the candidate through their progression in the recruiting process, including interview scheduling, responding to general questions, generating offer letters, planning, designing and executing tailored cultivation and onboarding strategies. Build strong relationships with candidates to understand decision making criteria and provide counsel. Develop location specific messaging and value proposition to attract top talent to the location. Understand the competitive landscape and what makes it unique and distinctive.
Plan and execute attraction and cultivation events (e.g., location presentations, small group events, interview days, dinners, office visits).
Lead and own the Summer Internship program for the location, including individual and cohort-based events. Work with the North America recruiting team to continue to innovate our recruiting practices.
Conduct year-end analysis on recruiting results and develop recommendations for improvements; ensure accurate and timely candidate data updates within appropriate recruiting tools. Take on additional responsibilities and special projects throughout the year and/or as they arise
On-campus recruiting responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of Firm recruiting efforts on-campus, working with consultants to develop and execute recruiting strategy for top talent. Plan and execute campus events (e.g., large presentations, small group events, interview workshops) while managing overall source recruiting budget, staffing consultants and attending events. Serve as primary contact and counselor for candidates throughout the identification, attraction and early assessment stages; be highly responsive to their needs and inquiries.
Lead candidate screening efforts and selection discussions for sources. Develop annual analysis of results against historical and competitive benchmarks; identify strategies to improve recruiting initiatives. Assist with candidate cultivation to include planning and executing events; identifying consultants who can support with candidate’s decision drivers; developing creative, personalized strategies. Manage a high volume of online applications; process and track applications; monitor candidate assessment results and update candidate management database.
Work with broader recruiting team to continue to innovate McKinsey’s recruiting strategy

Your qualifications and skills

  • University degree required
  • 2-5 years of recruiting experience, with a preference for experience in hiring for professional services and/or technical roles
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; growth mindset and willingness to dive in where priorities require leadership
  • Strong strategic thinker – ability to see and manage to “the big picture” while driving impact on specific initiatives
  • Strong analytical ability, including high degree of comfort with Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills. Ability to build great relationships with candidates, consultants at all levels, and recruiting colleagues
  • Proactive problem solver capable of identifying issues and generating solutions; desire and energy to continuously improve recruiting processes
  • Outstanding organizational skills. Ability to coordinate multiple streams of work independently; close attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgment and maturity; track record as self-starter; mindful of external reputation; discreet, respectful and caring with confidential information
  • Flexibility to deal with last minute changes; ability to remain calm under pressure; comfortable working with minimal direction and flexibility to work overtime as required
  • Ability to have flexible schedule and travel to campus as needed
  • Ability to look beyond own responsibilities to help team members with time sensitive deadlines as needed
