Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.

Your Impact

As a Working Student within the practices Global Energy & Materials, McKinsey Transformation and Sustainability, you will support our Professional Development team shaping and delivering key initiatives for the growth and development of our European consultants.
The Professional Development team at McKinsey supports the growth, coaching, and career progression of consultants, enhancing their development, mentorship, and overall experience. As a Working Student, you will assist the team with various operational and strategic initiatives tied to people priorities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and updating key people data across internal systems like SAP and Tableau, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting for decision-making. You will also manage “people lists” by gathering and verifying information, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring data consistency across the cluster.
Additionally, you will contribute to survey creation and refinement, track response rates, and support communication strategies to drive engagement. This includes analyzing survey data using tools like Qualtrics, translating results into Excel, and identifying insights related to consultant experience and satisfaction. You will take full ownership of consultant newsletters, managing content, structuring messages, designing banners, organizing updates, and ensuring timely delivery.
Your role will also involve preparing presentations, reports, and visuals for leadership, transforming complex information into clear and compelling materials. Furthermore, you will assist in advancing key people-agenda topics such as diversity, sponsorship, affiliation, and connectivity by coordinating and providing hands-on support for high-impact initiatives. Your position requires approximately 20 hours of work per week during regular working hours, with flexibility to structure half or full working days based on your academic schedule and the team’s needs.
In this role, you will gain broad exposure across people topics in the practices Global Energy & Materials, McKinsey Transformation and Sustainability by supporting projects that strengthen professional growth and talent development across the whole cluster.
Your contributions will influence the experience and long-term success of our consultants. By driving operational excellence, supporting key people initiatives, and helping shape the projects that sit at the heart of our talent strategy, you will enable our teams to focus on what matters most: developing exceptional leaders who create meaningful impact for clients.
As a Student Worker, you will receive regular guidance and coaching to help you grow your capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, deep exposure, and the professional foundation to accelerate your own career in an international environment.
As part of our Professional Development cluster team, you will be closely working with the Professional Development teams of the three practices, comprising 10 very open-minded colleagues with a great passion for people topics. Our team sits across Germany, Spain, Poland, Ireland, Stockholm and UK, mainly collaborating remotely. We are looking for a Working Student to support us in Munich. You will work both in the office and remotely.
In addition to working with us as your core team, you will have the opportunity to work with Professional Development teams and Student Workers from other industries and functional practices in Europe.

You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we’ll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
