A Day in the Life
The Systems Engineer II is a global role and within the Digital Transformation organization. The primary location is Juncos site with the option for a Hybrid Work Model (HWM) at any Medtronic facility in Puerto Rico (Humacao, Villalba, or Ponce).Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
- Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, development, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Perform assessments on Site Manufacturing hierarchy, and define manufacturing process steps based on relevant MES details for each area, and gather manufacturing process cycle times and shift patterns.
- Identify, document, configure, verify, and deploy data collection from automated equipment controller, from manual operator interfaces, from interfaces to other Manufacturing Systems like Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Perform configurations and setup the predefined Software Technology systems, verify that data displayed in the systems is accurate, and document the data verification in templates.
- Support any general activities after the system is released, and serve as liaison with IT and key stakeholders.
- Work with other team members such as Product Owners, QA, and process SMEs to assess risk throughout the project activities.
- Review department specifications and process documentation to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and Medtronic internal quality policies
- Communicate status updates to key stakeholders.
- Candidate must be capable of recognizing factors that could negatively affect project timelines / deliverables and effectively communicate impact to direct manager.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
Engineering Degree required
Nice to have (add skills)
Knowledgeable and understands frontend technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Angular)
Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Familiar with PLC logic programming.
Familiar with OPC/MQTT protocol.
Familiar with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Experience using MES (Factory Works, Critical Manufacturing or equivalent MES) software solutions.
Experience using SQL and data modeling to support software solutions.
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Knowledgeable and understands backend technologies (e.g., .NET Core, Python, C#)
