A Day in the Life

The preferred working location for this role is the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota; however, the individual may also work from another US-based Medtronic facility. Work locations may include:

The Principal IT Business Analyst assesses, influences, and drives strategic IT initiatives for the Cranial and Spinal Technologies operating unit. This team is delivering a Digital Transformation for our business partners, to capitalize on their investment in data. In this role, you will partner with enterprise IT teams to deliver novel solutions to manage customer data rights, create collections of images and data for AI development and clinical studies, and provide insights to improve our internal operations. This platform offers processes, digital experiences, and data for customers for the AiBLE ecosystem. CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES

  • Facilitates discussions with IT and business leaders to understand how strategies and data-driven changes can improve efficiencies and add value.
  • Work with data sets to define use cases to build and improve products, processes, and services.
  • Collaborates with Business Relationship Manager (BRM), business stakeholders and IT Product Owners / Managers to develop business requirements for product or system changes.
  • Leads discussions with IT and business leaders to reach an understanding and solve business and technical challenges in the most optimal way
  • Manages stakeholders’ expectations and provides briefings to senior leaders
  • Delivers large projects while exercising considerable latitude to determine deliverables, with limited oversight from manager.
  • Coaches, reviews, mentors, and delegates work to lower-level analysts.
  • Collaborates with multiple program and project managers to identify dependencies, escalate issues, and overcome challenges.
  • Responsible for representing business requirements to enterprise IT teams by obtaining deep knowledge of user personas, challenges, and solutions needs from the assessment to implementation
  • Provides technical expertise for system functional specifications and deploys new and current systems, processes and procedures in a cost-effective manner
  • Responsible for managing product backlog, writing and refining stories, and partnering with development teams to ensure acceptance criteria is met.
  • Additional Skills: Problem Solving, Detail Oriented, Cross-Functional Collaboration, Customer Service, Process Improvement, Communication.
  • Technology: Understanding of SDLC, quality systems and processes (MSCM is used at Medtronic), CRM systems, software and technological concepts, and AWS cloud solutions. Familiarity with data analysis tools and data modeling methodologies.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and 12+ years of experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience or advanced degree and 5+ years of experience

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous Medtronic experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in leading gathering business requirements, designing solutions to meet the requirements, educating business stakeholders on system capabilities and options to improve business processes
  • Experience with Medical imaging in the Cloud (specifically AWS HealthLake Imaging)
  • Exposure to AI and Machine Learning to analyze health related data and/or images
  • Experience in digital health, digital health strategies and ecosystem strategies and translating those into IT Capabilities
  • Understanding of digitized medical devices and products
  • Healthcare and medical device understanding and experience
  • Strong technical aptitude and knowledge on latest technology trends
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$108,000.00 - $162,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
