A Day in the Life

The CFO Medtronic Latin America (CFO MDT LA) is responsible for providing financial leadership and strategic insights to the Medtronic Latin America organization. Reporting directly to the CFO Medical Surgical Portfolio, Medtronic Americas and Global Commercial Transformation and Operations. The CFO MDT LA will serve as the main business partner for the President, Medtronic Latin America. This role manages a high performing team and is responsible for leading the 5-year revenue forecasts, building, and delivering financial models, informing strategic decisions through financials, analytics, and market insights, and partnering with the leadership team within MDT Latin America to advance and execute on critical priorities.

Position Description:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead organization Revenue Forecasting - In close partnership with the LA leader, inform and manage complex financial models to deliver long-range forecasts with ability to deliver scenario plan ‘what if’ analysis.
  • Provide business Insights to drive growth – A trusted partner to the President, MDT LA who both challenges and supports the leader with sound financial council by applying strategic thinking and financial analytics to provide business insights, challenge business assumptions, drive fact-based decision making and enable growth in both revenue and operating income.
  • Inform Sub-Region Financials – Look after all aspects of commercial decision making, financial performance & reporting, financial control, contractual negotiations. Deliver useful business insights through advanced analytics and data visualization capabilities. Facilitate approval requirements of customer deals, including pricing, terms and conditions, and adherence to revenue recognition guidance.
  • Develop and Manage Operational Financial Forecasts – Lead the AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and quarterly forecast process for the Medtronic Latin America Organization, tying financial funding to business strategy and return, performing variance analysis, and leading trade-off decisions.
  • Drive Business Excellence - Champions innovation and develops financial framework and collaboration model that drive transformation efforts by conceptualizing and developing new approach to programs, product and services.
  • Optimize team performance and cross-functional partnerships – Enables team to pursue possibilities that will create sustainable value and quality outcomes. Empowering the team with meaningful decision making and ownership. Creates a culture that emphasizes ongoing learning and development and encourages others to seek and learn from diverse perspectives. Focuses on driving continuous improvement and quality outcomes.

Nice to Have

• Degree in Accounting/Finance
• CPA, CMA, and/or MBA
• Global Experience working in industry outside of United States
• Medical Device, Healthcare or Pharma Industry experience

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONAL CAREER STREAM: Management and supervisory professionals with one or more employees who are focused on tactical, operational and some strategic activities within a specified area. Levels within the management career stream typically have six or more direct reports. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing performance, developing talent, engagement and inclusion, communicating business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of direct reports. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and / or indirect reports. A key responsibility of roles in this career stream is managing people. which includes: accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.

Innovation and Complexity: Champions innovation across the company recommending programs or projects and conceptualizing and developing new approaches. Problems and issues faced are complex, undefined and impact multiple businesses or functions, where information is typically difficult to obtain and extensive investigation to understand the root cause of problems is required.

Communication and Influence: Identifies, initiates, establishes and develops long term strategic relationships and alliances with key organizational stakeholders. Serves as principal spokesperson for the department, broad functional area or geography making recommendations to leaders and executives regarding strategic initiatives . Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on divergent objectives.

Leadership and Talent Management: Directs and controls one or more functional areas, geographies, divisions, product groups or service groups that include multiple teams led by directors and / or Sr Managers. Determines organizational structure and develops talent strategies . Develops management team to support strategic objectives . Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward within own area.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires advanced management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple functions. Typically has achieved mastery within a specific technical or broad expertise across multiple related disciplines. Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience , or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience.
