A Day in the Life
The Acute Care and Monitoring OU is committed to excellence in innovation and commercialization to pursue our vision and long-term business growth. The ACM OU R&D organization is refining its product delivery, innovation, and commercialization approach to enable product leadership across all segments of our product portfolio. This will require enhancing our innovation processes, refining our design and delivery approaches to deliver an integrated and comprehensive portfolio that enables product development excellence across ACM.The Sr. Program Manager will be accountable for programmatic management of several medium to large scale strategic programs across the Acute Care and Monitoring portfolio.
This can include:
• Development, creation and implementation of global coordinated cross functional project plans for commercialization initiatives across ACM
• Product level program management, commercial program management, cross product / technical site program management and or external partnerships to deliver a product or service (Commercialization: bringing new products or services to our customers)
• Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives
Oversee multiple project teams, ensuring commercialization program goals are reached
Immediate focus for this Program Manager will be on our products in the Respiratory Franchise including Shiley, Microstream and RespArray product lines.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.
- Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and cross functional teams management.
- Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
- Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
- Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project’s key stakeholders.
- Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate program risks
- Work with other program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department
Leadership and Team Coordination:
- Provide technical leadership in directing the efforts of cross-functional project teams in the development and production release of all relevant project deliverables in compliance with the Go-To-Market strategy
- Provide necessary leadership including program/project interdependency analysis
- Manage program and project teams for optimal return on investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives
Communication and Reporting:
- Inform the Innovation Council of commercialization progress for all regions in scope
- Ensure the commercialization plan remains aligned with the project plan by addressing any resource conflicts and problems as they emerge. Facilitate project team meetings; prepare agendas, facilitate discussions during meetings, take and distribute meeting minutes
Alignment and Collaboration:
- Drive alignment across the commercialization and product lifecycle management core teams
- Work closely with Innovation Delivery leaders, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for commercialization
- Identify key requirements for cross-functional teams, OU commercial teams, regions lead, and external partners depending on the program
Project Management:
- Utilize effective project management techniques to independently execute on project deliverables. This includes managing scope, schedule, risk, and budget
- Provide input to establishing program objectives, timelines, milestones, and budgets
- Monitor the effectiveness and performance of the launch and project team and facilitate the development of contingency plans, recommending corrective actions as required.
Process improvement
- Contribute to best practice creation and sharing across teams, creating/enhancing tools and templates
- Develop the Project Management skills of others, especially team members. Provide tactical and/or operational leadership and coaching
- Establish plans and implement policies and strategies. Decisions impact program schedules, or allocation of time, material resources, expenditures and funds

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT CAREER STREAM: Program Managers and Directors focus on tactical, operational activities for a major program with broad or ongoing impact. Levels within the program management career stream typically accomplish program objectives through matrixed employee teams and / or vendors who are not direct reports but for which the incumbent has direct accountability to lead. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing program/team performance, communicating project and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of program team members. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of program team members.

Enhances programs management processes to improve program.
Communication and Influence: Communicates and leads meetings with internal and external customers and vendors, conducts briefings to higher level management team.
Influences across functions and businesses while balancing divergent objectives to gain cooperation of other parties on program objectives and execution plans .
Leadership and Talent Management: Leads, directs and reviews the work of a team of managers, experienced professionals and/or vendors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
Establishes daily tasks necessary for successful program execution.
Not directly responsible for hire or fire decisions and people management.

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience OR
- Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
- 2+ Years of experience in development of medical devices and/or program management experience
- Complete understanding and application of Project Management principles, concepts, practices, and standards

- Medical Device industry experience- knowledge of new product development, DRM, clinical trial management, quality systems, global regulatory experience.
- Experience developing solutions for clinicians.
- Advanced degree such as MS, MBA, with strong financial acumen
- Extensive experience leading a complex project/program including financial accountability including strong preference for PMP certification.
- Prior experience managing large/complex site to site transfer projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective planning and organization skills including the proven ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously.
- Knowledgeable of U.S. Food and Drug Law and WW regulatory, device safety and/or regulatory/clinical research.
