A Day in the Life
In this key role, you will be part of cross-business projects, supporting both pipeline and marketed Medtronic products. Your efforts will help create an environment that enables funding, ensuring patients can access Medtronic technologies within the Belgian healthcare system. You will develop and execute health economics, outcomes research, reimbursement strategies, and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) projects. These initiatives will aim to secure optimal funding and access for designated therapies while helping to establish them as the Standard of Care within Medtronic Belgium.A crucial aspect of your role will be defining the economic value of Medtronic’s product portfolio for both external and internal customers. Additionally, you will ensure that the respective operating units are equipped with the tools and insights needed to confidently and effectively communicate these value propositions to customers.
You are expected to work from the office at least twice per week. You will cover Belgium and report to the Senior Reimbursement Manager.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Develop and write reimbursement dossiers for new and existing technologies. Also implement reimbursement strategies and programs to obtain coverage, coding and payment from payer/providers
- Provide reimbursement-related advice to product development teams, marketing, sales, regulatory, clinical and business leaders
- Work closely with Health Economics and Outcomes Research staff to evaluate the economic impact of the use of therapies/products on payers, including the government
- Create training and deliver education programs to sales force, physicians, home care agencies, case managers, hospital CFO's, medical directors, billing personnel, and pharmacists in clinics and hospitals
- Together with the HEPR team, develop product specific funding and access projects and tactics for identified product priorities partnering and in full alignment with the different operating unit’s strategies
- Provide advice for the marketing of new products with a specific focus on coding, reimbursement and how they impact market access strategy(ies)
- Develop localized tools, incorporating clinical data and economic models/analyses, to support business units in their day-to-day engagements with customers
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Science (Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology, etc.) or Economics with a healthcare economics qualification
- Preferably expertise in market access of medical devices and advanced technologies with in-depth knowledge of Belgian funding system
- Knowledge and application of Health Technology Assessment policies, Health Economics and outcomes research methods
- Capability to understand, interpret and communicate complex scientific information
- Exceptional communicator with good interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Fluency in English and able to write dossiers in Dutch. Good understanding of French
We value a strong team player with a mature personality who has experience working effectively on cross-functional teams, with medical and non-medical professionals at all levels. Interest in AI and digital health is a valuable plus.
