The Finance Consultant role will drive Medtronic’s long-range financial planning, lead market benchmarking and reporting, partner directly with Corporate Development on M&A and portfolio strategies, and play a critical role in our annual strategic planning process. You will analyze financial data, build financial models, and develop insights and recommendations to support executive leadership decisioning. This role requires partnership across the organization with various stakeholders, including senior management.
Key responsibilities of a strategic finance consultant include:
Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial performance and identifying trends and insights
Financial Modeling: Building financial models to support strategic decision-making, forecasting, and scenario analysis
Market Analysis: Analyzing and reporting market and competitive performance across key therapies and segments
Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing financial strategies to improve the companies financial performance and achieve targeted goals
Portfolio Strategy: Partner with Corporate Development team to quantify impact of acquisitions and divestitures, including financial due diligence across the P&L and balance sheet
Executive Communication: Preparing and developing key financials and materials for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with strategy and finance stakeholders across businesses, functions, and regions
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive operational efficiency through automation and innovation
Minimal travel expectations in this role (< 25% required)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience in Finance and/or Accounting OR 8+ years with an advanced degree
Nice to Have - What You Bring:
Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and PowerPoint
Strong analytical mindset – you can extract insights from complex data and translate them into actionable strategies
Exceptional communication and presentation skills – you make data meaningful and impactful
Highly detail-oriented and organized – you deliver high-quality work while managing multiple tasks and changing priorities
High degree of business acumen – with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization
Strong independent contributor – you are self-motivated and take action with limited oversight
Proven Project Leadership – you have experience managing cross-functional initiatives, fostering relationships, and delivering results
Experience in corporate finance, consulting, FP&A, or a similar analytical role is a plus
An MBA or CPA designation is a plus
