At our Operational Excellence Department in Medtronic, plc, we focus on supporting Product Value streams to ensure that customer & patient needs are met every day. Our focus is on delivering and maintaining high maturity improvement processes through deployment and use of our Medtronic Performance System (MPS) and maintaining high-quality performance within our Teams. The Process Engineer I is directly involved in the achievement of our mission to contribute to human welfare by manufacturing products that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

A Day in The Life Of:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Support deployment and coaching of the Medtronic Performance system (MPS) across the Parkmore site within one of the specific business areas
- Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma).
- Diagrams and evaluates existing processes.
- Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams.
- Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.
- Collects data to identify root cause of problems.
- Measures performance against process requirements.
- Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls.
- Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality.
- May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control.
- Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes.
- Communicates team progress.
- Performs cost and benefit analyses.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum Level 7 Degree with 0-1 year of experience in manufacturing with minimum demonstrated exposure to lean and six sigma techniques
- Good capability in some of the following tools: Value Stream Mapping, Work Method Analysis, DMAIC Problem Solving, 5Whys, 5S deployment, 8Wastes (Zero Loss thinking) Standard Work Creation and Line Balance and other lean/six sigma tools as appropriate
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels of the organization
- Good ability in Cost/Benefit analysis in Labour and Material.
- Good analytical ability on Inventory reduction opportunities.
