A Day in the Life
Medtronic, a leading global company in the MedTech domain, is hiring a Manufacturing Supervisor responsible for running and transforming the business within the Swiss Manufacturing Operational site (SMO). In the role, you will lead manufacturing operations, provide strategic recommendations on staffing and business needs, eventually committing to value stream accountability, change leadership, team development, as well as coaching and training.Moreover, you will cultivate an engaging and inclusive work environment, while also utilizing HR processes to address and manage ethical concerns, absenteeism, and employee performance matters, ensuring alignment with organizational values and policies, eventually overseeing the effective implementation and utilization of Medtronic Performance System (MPS) tools to ensure alignment with established standards to achieve operational consistency and excellence.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Lead manufacturing operations to deliver results across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory objectives, by leveraging the disciplined use of Medtronic Performance System, collaborate effectively with cross-functional support teams to drive resolution of abnormalities (5S, EHS risk, quality), including maintenance, quality, engineering, and supply chain, to drive operational excellence and achieve business goals, maintain a strong Gemba presence to gain firsthand insights into operational challenges and provide timely, effective solutions to support shop floor teams
- Communicate clearly and consistently regarding the team's current state, expectations, and priorities, ensuring alignment across teams and execution of optimized production schedules, cultivate an engaging and inclusive work environment that enhances customer value through a motivated, committed and inspired team, with best-in-class standards, exemplifying daily Medtronic Mindset, provide strategic recommendations on staffing and business needs, including manufacturing shift patterns, direct labor recruitment, and prioritization of production activities
- Take ownership of the product value stream and lead the development and execution of the shopfloor transformation roadmap to drive operational excellence and deliver measurable business results, design and implement comprehensive development programs for team leaders and operators to develop high-performing teams, eventually cultivating best-in-class routines and establish strong leader standard work to ensure sustainable performance improvements, while also inspiring and engaging teams at all levels to embrace change in a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, acting as a change agent to promote alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the effective implementation and utilization of Medtronic Performance System (MPS) tools, ensure alignment with established standards to achieve operational consistency and excellence, drive adherence to MPS standards, including tier management, 5S, 5 Whys, A3 problem-solving, and other lean methodologies.
- Lead by example and provide hands-on coaching to team leaders, reinforcing daily adherence to standards and best practices, eventually utilizing HR processes to address and manage ethical concerns, absenteeism, and employee performance matters, ensuring alignment with organizational values and policies.
Required knowledge and experience
- Master’s degree, preferably in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, leading and developing teams, fostering a culture of accountability & performance.
- Critical Thinking, strong analytical skills to identify issues, drive process standardization & optimization (yellow/green belt), along with ability to analyze complex operational data, assess risk, drive quick consensus & make informed decision that balance quality, efficiency & cost.
- Ability to effectively across departments and functions during day and night shifts, capability of building strong partnerships to ensure alignment and successful execution of organizational goals, along with exceptional communication skills aimed at clearly articulating decisions, strategies, and expectations while influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven strong knowledge of lean methodologies, Six Sigma, and operational excellence principles, with experience in proactive approach to identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency gains in manufacturing processes.
- Fluency in both French and English
