A Day in the Life
The Robotic Surgical Technologies Operating Unit strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions. We set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.You will join a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Medtronic’s Robotic Assisted Surgery platform beyond commercial launch and production scale-up: https://www.medtronic.com/surgical/robotics
The Sr Reliability Engineer shall support test activities to best meet the project’s requirements. This position will be a part of a R&D Early Technologies team and will interface with cross-functional team members. You will be responsible for executing tests, analyzing data, documenting results, and ensuring that all documentation passes quality review.

Location: North Haven, CT
You Will be:
Performing data analysis using statistical analysis such as MS Excel, Minitab, and ReliaSoft. Supporting the entire assigned projects/processes within Reliability Engineering
Conducting reliability testing of assigned system/subsystem/component
Maintaining and executing the activities such as test capability development, protocol development, test method development, preliminary failure analysis, test execution, data recording/reporting, data analysis/management, test status reporting/presentation
Leading the development and qualification of methods, fixtures, platforms, and software for reliability tests
Participating in system level workflow testing simulating user experience and assisting initial fault isolation activities
Facilitating the system level workflow testing and training of test operators
Coordinating and scheduling the reliability testing in addition to budgeting/forecasting/procuring necessary supplies
Reporting issues using established procedures/processes
Improving processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of Reliability testing
Providing in-depth analysis and often provides recommendations on process improvements. Communicating with senior internal customers and external vendors
Exchanging information/statuses/ideas/issues to achieve objective and influence decision-making
Developing, coordinating, and conducting technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs
Establishing design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability
Completing risk analysis studies of new design and processes
Compiling and analyzing the performance reports, process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes
As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related Engineering field and five 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, or related occupation in reliability engineering or
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Management, or related Engineering field and two 2 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, Reliability Engineer, or related occupation in reliability engineering
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering.
Test Engineering experience in the medical device industry.
Experience in medical device product development or equivalent.
Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills.
Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Excel and Word.
Organize and be able to prioritize workload, meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers when discovering, documenting, and resolving issues.
Strong interpersonal skills: function as a “team player” and work constructively and cooperatively with all team members in the best interests of the program.
