A Day in the Life

This position requires a minimum of 4 days onsite at our Jacksonville, Florida facility.

Over the past 20 years, we have become the global market leader in three key segments – image-guided surgery, intraoperative nerve monitoring, and powered surgical instruments. We continue to launch valuable ENT solutions in tissue health and balloon sinus dilation.

Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead R&D projects as the primary engineer, ensuring that all engineering tasks are coordinated and executed effectively.
  • Gather voice of the customer information directly from doctors, labs, and surgical cases to inform product development.
  • Translate clinical feedback into actionable engineering designs that meet market needs.
  • Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions for new product development, focusing on ENT applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, clinical, and manufacturing, to ensure product designs meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Design and validate mechanical components and systems, utilizing advanced engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate new product concepts and ensure design robustness.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology, integrating relevant findings into product development strategies.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

To Be Successful in this Role:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in R&D engineering or an advanced degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the medical device, in-vitro diagnostics, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of product development processes and design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, mechanical design, and analysis tools (e.g., CAD software).
  • Expert in mechanical engineering with experience in molded parts and sheet metal part design.
  • Proficient in failure analysis, finite element analysis, and tolerance stacks.
  • Demonstrated experience in the product development lifecycle from concept to launch.
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and projects.

Nice to Have:

  • Strong knowledge of project/program management techniques, PMP certification, or equivalent.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Experience in test automation and statistical process controls.
  • Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask on several projects and assignments.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Schedule: Minimum of 4 days on-site with one day flexible.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$160,800.00 - $241,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
