Please join an exciting and growing space within Medtronic’s Cardiac Surgery business as you directly impact the development and success of the sales force through best-in-class training & education. The Sr Training & Education Specialist role will be responsible in ensuring the field force gains procedural, product, and clinical confidence in selling the Extracorporeal Therapies (ECT) and Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) product portfolio and is viewed as THE expert and resource to internal customers.

Success factors of best-in-class training are through strategic thinking and strong cross functional partnerships, expectation setting, and continuous improvements of programs. This role reports to the Medical Education & Integrated Marketing Director for the Cardiac Surgery business.

A Day in the Life

Position Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of global training and education initiatives for the ECT (Extracorporeal Therapy) and ECLS (Extracorporeal Life Support) portfolio. The trainer will collaborate closely with Marketing, Field Sales Trainers, Clinical Specialists, Sales Enablement, Sales Leadership, and other cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, high-quality training that drives competency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs to build ECT and ECLS competencies across U.S. sales teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with regional teams to support training and competency development for commercial and clinical teams outside the U.S. (OUS).
  • Assess and measure therapy and product knowledge proficiency globally to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, plan, and execute in-house product and therapy training programs for both field support personnel and customer-facing roles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align training content with product strategy, clinical messaging, and commercial goals.
  • Ensure training programs are aligned with adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design.
  • Demonstrate training effectiveness through systematic program evaluation and continuous improvement strategy; Track training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics to ensure learning objectives are achieved.
  • In partnership with sales enablement team, train new hires to effectively sell ECT/ECLS portfolio
  • Training sales representatives and clinical specialists to ensure successful procedural and product support to health care professionals (HCPs) who are using Medtronic products
  • Collaborate with HCP faculty and cross-functional groups (Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales, Services, Legal, Quality and Regulatory) to create training programs, curricula design, course materials and measurements that support operating unit strategies and are compliant with Regulatory, Quality Systems and Business Conduct Standards
  • Develop self to become the subject matter expert in ECT and ECLS products and procedures
  • Provide timely evaluation and feedback to trainees and their managers/supervisors
  • Identify and implement cutting edge online, in-person and virtual training & education through implementation of new learning platforms and tools
  • Support field-based education efforts, including but not limited to evaluation of sales rep/clinical specialist knowledge in the field
  • • Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.
    • Capacity to adjust swiftly to shifting priorities in order to satisfy business requirements
    • Travel: up to 30%

Must Have:

4 years of training or marketing experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years.

Nice to Have:
• Experience in Extracorporeal therapies, Perfusion, or Extracorporeal life support ECLS/ECMO
• Computer skills: Excel, Smart Sheets, Articulate & Rise, Adobe, Camtasia. Power Point, Word, Outlook, Teams, Share Point

• Passion and ability to develop and deliver impactful training.
• Working knowledge of Training & Education of Medical device program curriculum build and delivery processes.
• Assessment of core competencies of field employees and physician customers to identify gaps in current program and build out and deliver curriculum that fills gaps identified.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$84,000.00 - $126,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
