Careers that Change LivesMedtronic Eatontown, New Jersey, is looking for a Lab Technician II. The person that takes this role will be expected to perform testing in the QC Laboratory in one or more of the Laboratories (Chemistry, Microbiology, and Isolator), with main role in the Isolator Laboratory performing sterility testing using Isolator technology (both half suit and glove port). The Lab Tech II works with other Lab teams members as well as engineers and manufacturing.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Reconciliation of test samples and distribution among all Laboratories
- Prepares samples for testing according to SOPs
- Ensure cleanliness of the laboratory
- Performs routine water testing
- Performs environmental sample evaluation (EM samples from a ISO 5 cleanroom)
- Performs routine Chemistry testing utilizing instrumentation including balances, thermogravimetric moisture analyzers, AA, and HPLC
- Performs sterility testing utilizing isolator barrier technology
- Performs sample preparation and/or testing in biological safety cabinets or fume hoods.
- Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions
- Makes and records observations; performs simple calculations; and collects and prepares data for evaluation
- Conducts laboratory support functions such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment; arranging and dismantling apparatus; and collecting, washing, and storing glassware
- Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements
- Performs technical procedures in the QC Lab
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (BA/BS in Scientific area preferred)
- 2 years of experience required
Nice to Have
- BA/BS in Scientific area
- Experience working in a QC Laboratory
- Aseptic technique
- Experience working with Isolator technology performing sterility testing
- Familiarity with GMP/GDP requirements
- Experience developing, documenting and training process and procedures
- People skills to understand cultural differences, adapts quickly, and collaborates effectively
- Good writing and documentation skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS, MODA, SAP)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel
- Ability to prioritize and execute, with high level of detail, on daily tasks effectively with minimal supervision
- Experience with equipment set-up, cleaning, troubleshooting, calibration and operation
