The person in this role will work from the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota.

As a Principal Software Systems Engineer on the Digital Health Product Management team you will lead the definition and design of digital health solutions and the underlying platform services that support these solutions as a technical product owner. You will be part of a global software engineering team, collaborating with team members across the world to build world class cloud native platforms and services. We’re building Digital Health platforms that are used across all operating units to deliver Insight Driven Care: personalized healthcare driven by data. Our platforms are used by healthcare providers, patients, data scientists, and R&D/R&T teams. We deliver capabilities such as patient engagement, clinical decision support, care management, healthcare data management, AI/ML enablement, medical image technologies, and interoperability by working directly with partners in the business to understand their needs and develop best in class cloud native technologies.

CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES

  • Leverage understanding of business strategy and needs to create a vision and roadmap for digital products, platforms, and services
  • Specialize in analyzing, designing, prioritizing, and implementing a set of IT products, platforms, and/or services
  • Ensure technologies add value and can scale to support pan-Medtronic use cases and initiatives across geographies, regions, and functions
  • Lead feature definition and refinement for an agile software development team
  • Engage with business partners to understand their needs and ensure product delivery addresses key needs
  • Collaborate with program managers to meet project commitments and timelines
  • Work with developers to refine stories and ensure development meets requirements
  • Work directly with QA engineers to answer questions and prove out requirements through testing
  • Actively participate in and lead sprint ceremonies, including stand ups, refinement sessions, demos, and retrospectives
  • Document requirements, write user stories, and refine with the development team
  • Lead training efforts and maintain complete training documentation for applications
  • Mentor more junior team members and ensure alignment with team ways of working and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with support SLAs and contribute to production support lifecycle
  • Manage quality system documentation and ensure compliance with validation requirements
  • Work independently on large, moderately complex projects and assignments, with general supervision
  • Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, security, service delivery, and privacy teams, among other teams, to deliver best in class digital products
  • Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, peers, and leadership to remove barriers for the team
  • Define and design software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, cloud-based and Internet-related tools
  • Design software programs for enhancements and to maximize new products
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine customer and product software design requirements
  • Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures
  • Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency
  • Responsibilities may include those listed above and other duties as assigned

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strongly Preferred:
    • Previous experience in Digital Health, healthcare, or life sciences
    • Proven ability to effectively manage the development of digital products
    • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills
    • Experience as a product owner or lead business analyst on a software engineering team
    • Experience building cloud native solutions, specifically leveraging AWS Native Services
    • Strong technical acumen and a proven ability to effectively collaborate with engineers on technical discussions and designs
    • Experience with identity and access management solutions such as AWS Cognito, Azure AD, and Okta
    • Experience designing native mobile applications (iOS and Android)
  • Innate curiosity and a desire to work in a developing space
  • Extensive experience with Agile development methodologies and SLDC tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience working with nearshore and offshore teams
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$145,600.00 - $218,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
