As part of our HR Digital and AI Transformation, the HR organization is advancing a bold, future-focused strategy to build a digital-first operating model that redefines how HR delivers value. Our vision is to harness the power of AI to create frictionless, personalized employee experiences, unlock innovation, and drive operational excellence. The AI specialist will help in creating a bridge /translator between technical workstreams and HR COE’s and process. This position ensures that AI solutions are seamlessly integrated by accounting for frictionless user experience. Additionally, this role keeps all documentation up to date, ensuring they reflect current systems and industry’s best practices, thereby positioning the HR function at the forefront of technological innovation.

Through a combination functional understanding of underlying technology and understanding of core internal processes, you will bring the best AI solutions that align initiatives with governance policies and business requirements. A key focus is on responsible AI implementation – embedding data privacy and quality safeguards into HR AI solutions.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Functional Proficiency

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, architects and development teams to understand business requirements and map them to technical requirements based on the high-level design from solution architects and key stakeholders

  • Analyze and review cases obtaining the required resources to ensure the solution delivers the intended benefits

User Journey Mapping

  • Translate AI capabilities into meaningful user experiences through wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models.

  • Conduct journey mapping and user research for AI solutions so they can evolve with changing business needs and technologies

Test Lead

  • Test the quality and performance of the solutions/product and its ability to perform a task or solve a problem

  • Documents test cases, User Acceptance, technical artifacts

  • Monitor and evaluate bot performance, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Product Mindset

  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party partners to understand product roadmaps, influence enhancements, and ensure the organization's architecture is future-proof and aligned with industry trends.

  • Leverage knowledge to evaluate technological readiness, data availability, and resources to execute the proposed solutions

Cross-functional Expertise

  • Stay current with the latest AI research, tools, and technologies

  • Acts as a bridge between HR COEs and the AI team

  • Prompt Engineering and AI terminology

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in technical business analysis with significant focus on designing AI/Automation solutions or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years experience.

Nice to Have:

  • AI Project Experience with hands-on involvement in at least one large AI implementation (e.g. deploying an AI/ML solution, automation or enterprise chatbot).
  • Experience with HR systems.
  • Technology background -demonstrates the ability to work across a variety of teams and implement solutions in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Enterprise Systems & Integration: Understanding of enterprise HR systems and integration patterns, with experience connecting AI solutions to other platforms for end-to-end process flow. (Experience in the HR technology domain or enterprise system integration is a strong plus.)
  • AI/ML Technologies: familiarity with LLM-based tools, prompt engineering or RPA platforms. Experience with UiPath/ Moveworks /Automation Anywhere is a plus.
  • Data Privacy & AI Ethics: knowledge of data protection regulations and AI ethics.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to evaluate complex systems and troubleshooting issues. Able to optimize system performance and scalability, identifying bottlenecks and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proven capacity to lead technical discussions and work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, data science, HR stakeholders) to drive consensus on design decisions
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Proficiency in creating technical and functional documentation. Familiar with industry, the best practices and able to document designs in a way that can be easily understood and followed by both development teams and business stakeholders.
  • Continuous Learning: A forward-thinking mindset with a habit of staying current on emerging technologies and trends in AI and enterprise architecture, ensuring the HR tech stack benefits from the latest innovations.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$89,600.00 - $134,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
