A Day in the Life
Medtronic Diabetes (Minimed) is seeking an accomplished Finance Director to lead the financial strategy and operations for our Global Operations and Integrated Supply Chain. As a critical leader within the Diabetes Finance team, you will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to oversee financial activities across external manufacturing, logistics (distribution centers, freight, and duties), quality, procurement, contract manufacturing, and capital investments. You will enable data-driven decision-making, optimize cost structures, and ensure financial alignment with the Diabetes business’ strategic objectives.This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving operational financial performance, optimizing supply chain costs, and supporting the strategic direction of the Diabetes business unit. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, while enhancing your leadership profile and contributing to the future transformation of Medtronic Diabetes, including its announced plans to IPO.
This position is based in Northridge, CA and may require 25% travel.

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
1. Strategic Financial Leadership
Serve as the financial leader for supply chain, procurement, contract manufacturing, and quality by providing actionable insights, strategic direction, and financial guidance to support the Diabetes business’ objectives.
Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes for supply chain, procurement, contract manufacturing, and quality ensuring alignment with corporate goals and delivering transparent, data-driven insights.
Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive operational excellence, margin improvement, resource allocation, and financial discipline across the organization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to harmonize financial practices, support Diabetes-wide initiatives, and elevate financial acumen across the organization.
Evaluate business cases and support decision-making for key operational initiatives, including cost optimization, supplier negotiations, and strategic investments.
2. Supply Chain Finance
Lead financial planning, analysis, and reporting for global supply chain operations, including logistics, distribution centers, freight, and duties.
Partner with supply chain leaders to optimize costs related to transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks, while supporting strategic initiatives to improve delivery performance and efficiency.
Provide financial oversight for cost-to-serve metrics and ensure alignment with Diabetes’ global supply chain strategy.
Monitor and analyze freight and duty expenses, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Procurement & Purchasing Finance
Collaborate with procurement teams to develop financial strategies for supplier management, vendor negotiations, and material cost optimization.
Provide financial oversight for supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and delivery standards.
Drive initiatives to reduce procurement costs, mitigate risks, and improve vendor relationships while ensuring compliance with Medtronic’s financial and regulatory policies.
Partner with procurement leaders to implement cost-saving strategies and enhance the financial efficiency of purchasing activities across the Diabetes business.
4. Contract Manufacturing Finance
Provide financial leadership for contract manufacturing activities, including supplier negotiations, cost structure optimization, and supplier performance management.
Collaborate with contract manufacturing partners to evaluate financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure alignment with Diabetes’ quality and delivery standards.
Oversee financial governance for contract manufacturing agreements, ensuring compliance with Medtronic’s policies and regulatory requirements.
Partner with operations and procurement teams to optimize the financial efficiency of contract manufacturing processes and drive value creation.
5. Operations Capital Investment Governance
Lead financial governance for all capital investments within operations, including manufacturing sites, contract manufacturing, and supply chain infrastructure.
Partner with operations leaders to evaluate and prioritize capital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and delivering optimal ROI.
Oversee the financial management of owned operations and contract manufacturing, including plant expansions, capacity investments, and automation projects.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and maintain a robust control environment for capital expenditures
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership role, including direct oversight of operational, supply chain, procurement, or contract manufacturing finance teams.
Proven expertise in financial strategy, supply chain finance, investment governance, and enterprise-level decision-making in a regulated industry.
Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling, cost optimization, and investment appraisal.
Experience with financial systems such as SAP, Hyperion/Essbase, or similar platforms.
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Finance/Accounting) or professional certification (CPA, CMA, or CFA).
Experience in supply chain finance, contract manufacturing finance, procurement finance, or logistics for medical devices or diabetes-related products.
Experience and/or ability to lead and operate within a complex organization and with various levels of management
Strong results orientation and bias for action, including a high degree of initiative and self-motivation in understanding business needs and leading/developing others to meet those needs
Ability to translate ideas and financial results into concise presentations for senior management
Proactively seeks ways to improve results through cost reduction (both standard cost and costs not in standard), increased margins, improve mix, and effective capital management

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
