A Day in the Life

We are seeking a Business Process Improvement Manager to serve as a driving force for lean transformation and operational excellence across our organization. This highly collaborative role is ideal for someone who thrives on tackling complex challenges, partnering with diverse teams, and delivering impactful, sustainable improvements. The successful candidate will act as an internal consultant, using their expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and process optimization to assess current practices, identify opportunities, and implement scalable solutions that enhance capacity, quality, and cost efficiency.

Beyond process mapping and analysis, this leader will facilitate cross-functional workshops, develop and track key performance metrics, and communicate progress at every level – from operators to executive leadership. With a strategic yet hands-on approach, you’ll deliver training, mentor colleagues, and leverage best practices to influence change, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and help shape the future of our business operations. This role will require 50% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma).

  • Diagrams and evaluates existing processes.

  • Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams.

  • Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.

  • Collects data to identify root cause of problems.

  • Measures performance against process requirements.

  • Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls.

  • Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality.

  • May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control.

  • Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes.

  • Communicates team progress.

  • Performs cost and benefit analyses.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

OR

  • An advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience

Nice To Have

  • Experience with cross-border or multi-site process improvement projects

  • Advanced Lean or Six Sigma certification (e.g., Black Belt, Master Black Belt)

  • Previous consulting experience in operational excellence or process transformation

  • Demonstrated success leading projects in highly regulated industries (e.g., medical device, pharma, aerospace, automotive)

  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Minitab)

  • Change management certification or significant experience with organizational change initiatives

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills for executive and frontline audiences

  • Experience developing and delivering training for Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies

  • Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish, due to international travel and cross-border collaboration

  • Familiarity with digital transformation, Industry 4.0, or advanced manufacturing technologies

  • Track record of mentoring or coaching other process improvement professionals

  • Experience with succession planning and talent development

  • Strong financial acumen, including cost/benefit analysis and budget management

  • High adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110,400.00 - $165,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
