A Day in the Life

Main purpose of Commercial Leader Surgical Innovation is to lead Medtronic’s Surgical Innovation (SI) businesses across Türkiye, with full accountability for revenue growth, market share expansion, and therapy leadership. The SI Leader owns SI therapy strategy, sales execution, and operational excellence, working in close alignment with the Country Leader and Türkiye priorities, in support of Medtronic’s mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

The role requires strong people and therapy leadership, with success driven through the performance, development, and engagement of regional SI Sales and SI Therapy/Clinical leaders, ensuring best-in-class commercial and clinical execution.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead and execute SI therapy strategies across Türkiye to achieve revenue growth, market penetration, and adoption of surgical technologies.
  • Directly contribute to the attainment of financial and operational goals within the business unit or region in support of the company's overall financial and strategic objectives.
  • Drive SI portfolio execution, including Energy, Stapling, GYN, and other surgical innovation platforms, ensuring strong go-to-market and launch excellence.
  • Establish budgets, short- and long-range objectives and criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success.
  • Ensure sales strategies are aligned to Business Unit strategies and that support to the field is in place.
  • Oversee new product/market introductions, sales training programs, key surgeons/key account visit and attendance at key industry congresses and meetings.
  • Provide strategy and direction for ongoing business development, implementation of marketing plans, development of sales and market development objectives and tools, and growth of the business for the region.

Accountabilities and performance measures:

  • Deliver business revenue and profitability targets.
  • Drive execution of functional and sales strategies, ensuring strong operational alignment.
  • Expand SI market share and therapy penetration across surgical platforms.
  • Build and develop high-performing SI leadership teams.
  • Drive workforce and succession planning, talent development, and D&I initiatives.
  • Authorize hiring, promotion, performance management, and reward decisions in alignment with country leader.
  • Represent Medtronic to senior stakeholders (government, hospital systems, KOLs, C-suite) to influence healthcare access and policy.
  • Drive commercial excellence, including accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, integrity, and accountability.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the Türkiye LT, aligning country strategies with the broader regional vision.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant sales and leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth in emerging or complex markets.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare systems, reimbursement models, and the medical technology sector across diverse geographies in international/matrix environments.
  • Experience building and managing leadership teams.
  • Track record of successful strategic account management and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
  • Strong leadership presence; ability to inspire and mobilize diverse teams.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong operational discipline.
  • Advanced influencing and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including resource allocation.
  • Change management and transformation leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including executive briefings.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate market trends, and develop proactive strategies.

  • Fluent in English and Turkish.
