A Day in the Life
The FP&A Consultant for the Global Commercial Office (GCO) plays a critical role in driving financial performance, delivering insights and shaping strategic decisions across the business. Serve as the central leader for FP&A processes across GCO, ensuring alignment on timelines, deliverables, standards, and processes. This role drives consolidation, consistency, automation and continuous improvement across all core FP&A activities.Reporting to the FP&A Director, this role serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to functional and financial leaders, providing forward looking analysis, scenario modeling, and recommendations that influence strategic and operational outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial modeling expertise, business acumen, leadership, and storytelling skills to connect financial results with business drivers and enable data driven decision making.
- Lead FP&A consolidation across GCO for month-end close, forecasts, AOP, and long‑range planning
- Leverage consolidated details to develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership
- Own and manage the enterprise FP&A calendar, ensuring alignment on timelines and deliverables
- Align FP&A teams on targets, assumptions, standards and outputs across all planning and reporting cycles
- Facilitate weekly meetings with GCO Finance and Center of Excellence partners
- Oversee capital, depreciation, and benefit tracking in partnership with PMO (spend, benefits, resource plan, mapping to P&L)
- Develop and maintain standardized FP&A templates and reporting formats
- Build driver‑based financial models to assess scenarios, risks, and opportunities
- Drive process simplification, standardization, automation, and AI-enabled improvements
- Headcount tracking, forecast templates, etc
- Partner with Data & Analytics, Corporate Finance and internal analysts to enhance systems and dashboards
- Design new reporting and processes to support strategic initiatives and evolving stakeholder needs
- Provide ad hoc analysis and decision support for strategic and operational priorities
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities with experience preparing materials for senior leaders.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Anaplan, Power BI/Tableau).
Preferred:
- MBA, CPA, or CFA designation.
- Experience in a global, matrixed organization (e.g., MedTech, manufacturing, or commercial operations).
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
