A Day in the Life

In this exciting role as a Pr. Buyer/ Planner, you will have responsibility for MRP accuracy, purchase planning and execution, PO maintenance and raw material inventory. This includes placing Purchase Orders for raw materials (including Kanban agreements), raising call up, negotiating timely delivery for ensuring cost effective acquisition of quality materials, checking validating BOM for Buy material, inventory analytics to reduce unhealthy inventory. This position leads and works in a collaborative environment with Production planning, Manufacturing, Commodity Management, Supplier Quality and Supplier Management. The Pr. Buyer/Planner will act as a lead and mentor to the broader team.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead, coach, mentor and drive a global team of high performing buyer/planner across

  • Create process and standard work to ensure expectation and drive results.

  • Maintain optimum level of inventory while maintaining Raw material availability.

  • Represent Buying/planning/ Inventory in (multiple) Manufacturing plant tier 3 and tier 4, to drive / respond to escalations to support manufacturing site for Raw availability.

  • Drive Material Requirement planning accuracy and signal execution.

  • Drive purchase planning system projects which standardizes process

  • Act as key participant/owner in monthly SIOP cycle managing long-term rough-cut capacity views with scenario planning being able to identify and escalate exceptions for business consideration with the suggestion of possible scenarios and solutions.

  • Serve as liaison to Supply team, finance teams and plant operations with regards to volume planning for raw materials

  • Champion and lead capacity constrained Master Production Schedule, MRP to align manufacturing to Backorder, Backlog. Understanding/ learning each site ERP will be key.

  • Support Network transfer projects and balance ramp down to ensure no loss of service and minimal write off.

  • Maintains optimum inventory levels as per budgets, to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements

  • Drive MRP and Purchasing processes to maintain balance between inventory and service

  • Ensures that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions

  • Function skillfully as the key core team member for large-scale and/or complex projects providing value that reaches beyond the supply chain role.

  • Creates integrated processes among internal functions (e.g., operations, purchasing and logistics) and outside suppliers.

  • Plans and analyzes activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.

  • Work with leadership level in organization to communicate, advocate, present and negotiate.

  • Individual should be self-driven, motivated and demonstrated track record of excellence

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

The following experience is extremely helpful to be successful in this role:

  • Degree level education in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain related field MS/MBA preferred

  • APICs CPIM/CSCP

  • 5-7 years of experience of working in a Medical Device Supply Chain / Manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated leadership experience through Expert Knowledge

  • Ability to handle grey, negotiate with confidence and work in Matrix organization

  • Experience in ERP and MRP

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data modeling and analysis

  • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively as a leader and/or team member with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to generate customer value - Listening, understanding, anticipating, and solving problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and influence key stakeholders in a global and matrix organization environment

  • Software skills including MS Office (Excel and Power BI focus, Blue Yonder)

  • Working knowledge of SAP suite or other planning systems

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • Experience implementing/ utilizing LEAN/Six Sigma techniques a plus.

  • Knowledge of distribution planning, Supply planning, Operations scheduling, warehousing is a plus

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,800.00 - $157,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
