A Day in the Life
Medtronic India has launched the Medtronic Mobile Surgical Skill Lab (MMSSL) — a first-of-its-kind mobile training platform designed to deliver hands-on surgical skill development across India.The MMSSL is a fully equipped, truck-based surgical training lab featuring:
Endotrainers
Knot tying boards
Electrosurgical generators
Surgical stapling products
Hugo™ Surgeon Console
The objective of this initiative is to reach hospitals and training centres across India and provide structured, high-quality, hands-on training to young surgeons.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Senior BP Project Management Specialist- MMSSL will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, operations, stakeholder engagement, and performance management of the Mobile Surgical Skill Lab program across India.
This individual will serve as the single point of ownership for the MMSSL initiative, ensuring smooth operations, high-quality training delivery & regulatory compliances.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Strategy & Planning
Develop quarterly & Annual operational plans for MMSSL deployment across regions.
Identify target cities, hospitals, medical colleges, and training institutions in alignment with business priorities.
Collaborate closely with T&E, sales, marketing & leadership to align training objectives with commercial strategy.
Establish KPIs and success metrics (number of programs, surgeon reach, conversion impact, etc.).
2. Operational Management
Oversee scheduling, routing, and deployment of the MMSSL truck across India.
Coordinate logistics including permits, parking permissions & hospital approvals.
Ensure all equipment (Endotrainers, electrosurgical units, staplers, Hugo™ console) are functional and maintained.
Work with technical and service teams for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Manage vendor partners (truck operations, logistics, fabrication, maintenance agencies).
3. Clinical & Educational Execution
Design structured training modules and curriculum in collaboration with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Ensure hands-on learning experience meets Medtronic’s quality and safety standards.
Maintain participant records, feedback forms, and training certifications.
4. Stakeholder Management
Engage with:
Hospital administrators
Department heads (Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, etc.)
Medical colleges & residency programs
KOL surgeons
Work closely with regional sales managers to integrate training programs with territory development.
Represent Medtronic during institutional discussions regarding training collaboration.
5. Compliance & Governance
Ensure all activities comply with Medtronic’s global policies and Indian regulatory requirements.
Maintain documentation related to program approvals, contracts, and participant records.
Ensure ethical promotion & adherence to medical device regulations.
Monitor safety protocols for equipment usage within the mobile lab.
6. Budget & Performance Management
Manage annual program budget including logistics, travel, faculty honorarium, maintenance & consumables.
Prepare monthly and quarterly dashboards for leadership review.
Recommend strategic improvements to increase impact and efficiency.
7. Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead and coordinate with:
Sales teams
Logistics coordinators
External vendors
Provide on-site supervision during key training programs.
Build a scalable framework for future expansion of MMSSL.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences / Biomedical Engineering / Healthcare Management / Business.
MBA (preferred).
Experience
6–10 years of experience in:
Medical devices
Surgical education programs
Clinical training management
Field-based program operations
Experience working with surgeons and hospital stakeholders is highly preferred.
Prior experience managing mobile units / field activation programs is a strong advantage.
Key Competencies
Technical
Understanding of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) concepts.
Familiarity with electrosurgical systems and surgical stapling technologies.
Basic understanding of robotic-assisted surgery platforms (preferred).
