A Day in the Life

Role Purpose

The Regional Commercial Leader for the Diabetes business is accountable for driving sustainable growth, profitability, and market leadership across a region. This role owns the full commercial agenda, translating global strategy into regional execution while ensuring strong customer impact, disciplined performance management, and development of high‑performing commercial teams.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Multi‑country regional scope with diverse market maturity and healthcare systems
  • Leadership of cross‑functional commercial organization (Sales, Marketing, Key Accounts, Channel / Distributor Management)
  • Strong matrix collaboration with Global, Regional, and Functional partners

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

  • Define and execute the regional commercial strategy aligned with global Diabetes strategy and regional priorities
  • Identify growth opportunities across therapy adoption, portfolio expansion, pricing, and channel optimization
  • Lead annual operating plans, long‑range planning, and forecasting with clear growth and profitability targets
  • Drive launch excellence for new products, indications, and digital / service solutions

Commercial Execution

  • Own regional sales performance, including demand generation, funnel management, and revenue delivery
  • Ensure effective go‑to‑market models across direct and indirect channels, adapting by market needs
  • Oversee pricing, contracting, and reimbursement strategies in partnership with Market Access
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, KOLs, distributors, and strategic partners

Leadership & Organization

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of senior commercial leaders and country managers
  • Build a performance‑driven culture with clear accountability, transparency, and customer focus
  • Ensure strong succession planning and talent development for critical roles
  • Role‑model ethical leadership and compliance with all regulatory and quality requirements

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Medical, Market Access, Finance, Supply Chain, and HR to deliver integrated business outcomes
  • Act as the senior commercial voice for the region in global and regional governance forums
  • Ensure insights from customers and markets inform portfolio, evidence, and innovation priorities

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and quality standards
  • Proactively manage commercial, financial, and operational risks across the region
  • Oversee distributor governance, contracts, and performance management where applicable

Key Performance Indicators

  • Revenue growth and market share
  • Gross margin and operating profit
  • Launch performance and portfolio mix
  • Customer satisfaction and retention
  • Talent engagement and leadership bench strength

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Background in life sciences, business, or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive commercial experience in healthcare, medtech, or pharmaceuticals
  • Proven senior leadership experience with P&L ownership (large, complex regional business scale)
  • Strong track record of driving growth in complex, multi‑country or emerging market regions
  • Experience in Diabetes or chronic care businesses is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in managing direct and indirect / distributor‑based business models

  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into disciplined execution
  • Deep commercial acumen: sales excellence, marketing, pricing, and market access understanding
  • Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed, global organization
  • Financial literacy with strong planning, forecasting, and business review capabilities
  • High learning agility and ability to navigate ambiguity and change
  • Excellent communication and executive presence with internal and external stakeholders
