The Mechanical Engineer I is an entry‑level role supporting the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment within Medtronic Singapore Operations. Working under close supervision, this role contributes to improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance in a medical device manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Support development and improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Assist in optimizing machine arrangements and production workflows within plant facilities.
- Help define operation sequences and support equipment setup for manufacturing activities.
- Ensure manufacturing activities follow safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Collect, clean, and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support data extraction, transformation, and reporting for engineering and operational insights.
- Assist in building dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Spotfire.
- Assist with integration and monitoring of IoT devices, sensors, and networking systems for real-time data collection.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data into manufacturing and business processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency using data analytics and digital manufacturing technologies.
- Participate in learning and development related to automation, machine learning, advanced analytics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes and core mechanical engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
- Internship, academic project, or practical experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or related environments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
