A Day in the Life

The IT M&A team at Medtronic plays a critical role in enabling seamless application integration and transition across mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
As an IT M&A Sr Application Business Analyst, you will drive application integration, business analysis, and cross-functional coordination to ensure operational continuity and alignment with business needs. You will support execution from planning through Day 1 and post-go-live stabilization, working across multiple IT domains in a dynamic, global environment.
You will collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to deliver integration outcomes aligned with enterprise architecture and strategic goals.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead and support end-to-end application integration and/or separation across entities
  • Define application strategies (retain, retire, replace, consolidate) aligned with business and IT architecture
  • Assess application compatibility, dependencies, and integration points
  • Ensure alignment with business functions such as Commercial, GOSC, R&D, Quality, Finance, and HR
  • Elicit, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements
  • Perform current-state vs target-state analysis to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Translate business needs into actionable IT requirements and solutions
  • Support prioritization based on business impact, risk, and feasibility
  • Coordinate across IT domains including Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics, Integration, R&D, and Quality
  • Collaborate with IT SPOCs, application owners, SMEs, and vendors
  • Ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Facilitate discussions to resolve dependencies and drive decisions
  • Contribute to integration and separation planning, including timelines and milestones
  • Support execution of activities such as application onboarding, configuration, integration validation, and data migration
  • Track progress and ensure adherence to integration roadmap
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Support Day 1 readiness planning and validation across application workstreams
  • Develop and execute cutover plans and runbooks
  • Ensure readiness for system access, data validation, and integration connectivity
  • Participate in cutover rehearsals and execution to ensure smooth transition
  • Act as a liaison between business and IT stakeholders
  • Provide updates on progress, risks, and key decisions
  • Prepare executive presentations, dashboards, and reports
  • Translate technical changes into clear business impact
  • Support post-Day 1 stabilization activities and issue resolution
  • Track defects, incidents, and enhancements
  • Ensure transition to steady-state operations and support teams
  • Maintain project plans, trackers, and dashboards using tools like JIRA, MS Project, and Smartsheet
  • Track milestones, risks, and dependencies (RAID logs)
  • Support governance forums, steering committees, and program reviews
  • Develop high-quality executive reporting and insights
  • Leverage automation, analytics, and AI/ML tools to improve efficiency
  • Build dashboards and reporting mechanisms for decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to enhance integration processes and tools
  • Ensure continuity of critical business operations during integration
  • Support outcomes such as system consolidation, cost optimization, and efficiency
  • Align IT deliverables with business objectives and strategic goals

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or related field
  • 7–12 years of experience in IT M&A, business analysis, or application delivery roles
  • Strong experience in M&A integration and/or separation programs
  • Proven experience in project management and cross-functional coordination
  • Hands-on experience in cutover planning, Day 1 readiness, and hypercare
  • Strong understanding of application lifecycle, system integration, and enterprise IT landscapes
  • Experience with tools like JIRA, MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence, Excel
  • Experience leveraging automation and AI/ML tools for efficiency
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, global, cross-functional environments
    Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with enterprise platforms (SAP S/4HANA, Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow)
  • Exposure to integration strategies and data migration approaches
  • Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, life sciences)
  • Familiarity with IT governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience supporting Day 1 command center operations
  • Knowledge of business processes (O2C, P2P, R2R, HR, Supply Chain)
  • Experience with change management and user adoption strategies
  • Exposure to automation tools, analytics platforms, or AI/ML capabilities
