Across our global Neuroscience organization, we advance care for some of medicine’s most complex neurological and spinal conditions. Our Neuromodulation Operating Unit provides advanced therapies for chronic pain, movement disorders, and other neurological conditions. As a Principal PD Project Management Specialist, you will lead and manage the operational execution of ongoing projects, serving as a key liaison between project management and planning functions. You will oversee the development and implementation of products and services, working with cross-functional teams to deliver new and existing solutions. This role includes monitoring project performance, budgets, and timelines; preparing status reports; and ensuring projects progress smoothly from initiation through delivery. You will proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and implement strategies to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction objectives, while establishing effective mechanisms for tracking progress and driving timely interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of integrated, cross-functional project schedules through work breakdown, activity estimation, and dependency mapping

  • Perform advanced schedule analysis, including critical path, near-critical path (+X days), and Monte Carlo simulations

  • Proactively communicate scheduling risks, conflicts, and deadlines to cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Drive schedule recovery and re-planning efforts as needed

  • Partner with Project Leads to establish and maintain program milestones and interdependencies

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support lifecycle management of products and programs

  • Monitor project status, budgets, and performance, and provide clear, actionable reporting

  • Develop and implement tools and processes for tracking progress, managing risks, and resolving issues

  • Ensure alignment and transfer of risk-based activities across risk registers, schedules, and planning tools

  • Promote best practices in cost, schedule, and resource tracking, staying current with project planning tools and methodologies

  • Support core teams in preparing recommendations and deliverables for business phase gate reviews

  • Engage and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure outcomes align with business objectives and solve key challenges

Location: Rice Creek East/Fridley, MN

Onsite Requirement: We bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness, and in-person collaboration is vital to how we work. As part of our commitment to innovation, we operate a minimum of 4 days a week onsite to accelerate problem-solving, build trust across teams, and elevate the capabilities of our program management community.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor degree in technical or related field with minimum of 7 years of experience, OR

  • Master degree in technical or related field with minimum of 5 years of experience, OR

  • PhD in technical or related field with minimum 3 years of experience

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project planning tools

  • Knowledge of medical device product development process

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies

  • Understanding of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) mobile devices and related technologies

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$142,400.00 - $213,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
