Medtronic’s Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for a Senior DevSecOps Manager to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of energy-based therapeutic medical devices to treat hypertension. In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to support the newly approved therapy medical device software, the next generation medical device software products, and digital health solutions.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) unit. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Manager DevSecOps role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • The Senior DevSecOps Manager will lead the integration of security, quality, and compliance into the DevOps lifecycle for software used in regulated medical devices and digital health solutions. This role ensures secure, reliable, and compliant software delivery aligned with global regulatory requirements while enabling efficient and scalable development practices.
  • The Senior DevSecOps Manager partners closely with Product Teams leadership across entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) of products. In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior DevSecOps Manager role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Define and execute the DevSecOps strategy aligned with medical device quality systems and cybersecurity requirements
  • Develop and maintain Dev Ops infrastructure and processes to support continuous integration and delivery of software products in non-production and production environments
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevSecOps and platform security engineers
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in DevSecOps, and make recommendations for process improvements
  • Influence engineering leadership to adopt secure, compliant, and scalable development practices
  • Embed security and quality controls into CI/CD pipelines in alignment with medical device regulations
  • Drive threat modeling, secure architecture reviews, and risk assessments as part of product requirements
  • Ensure DevSecOps practices compliant with industry standards and regulations related to software development, medical device and health software product security, such as IEC 62304, IEC 82304, ISO 14971, NIST, IEC 60601-4-5, IEC 81001-5-1, FDA and international cybersecurity guidance for medical devices, and others.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities based on patient safety and business risk
  • Support cybersecurity incident response, vulnerability disclosures, and coordinated remediation
  • Ensure post‑market surveillance inputs are incorporated into secure software updates
  • Define and track KPIs related to security posture, compliance readiness, and delivery efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, audits, and lessons learned
  • Accountable for the quality, robustness, predictability, and completeness of the team’s output, including tracking and reporting software quality metrics.
  • Accountable for your team’s compliance with internal design controls and medical device regulations and standards
  • Prepare team members for certification and regulatory audits. May represent the team’s work in audits.
  • Drive departmental excellence, proficiency, best practice, and consistency across project teams.
  • Anticipate the need for new development tools, methods, technologies, and processes.
  • Represent your team to the wider organization.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 7 + years of experience in DevOps, software engineering, or cybersecurity
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD platforms and automation
  • Must have working knowledge of secure SDLC practices and software risk management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and minimum of 7 years of work experience with 5 years of managerial experience OR advanced degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science with 5 years of managerial experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing or supporting regulated medical device software
  • Familiarity with FDA submissions, design history files (DHF), and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of cloud and connected medical device cybersecurity
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CSSLP, CCSP, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of patient safety and product risk management
  • Excellent collaboration skills across engineering, quality, and regulatory teams
  • Pragmatic decision‑making that balances compliance, security, and delivery velocity
  • Clear communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$175,200.00 - $262,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
