A Day in the Life
The Vice President, Business Operations provides enterprise-wide strategic leadership to drive scalable execution, performance, and growth across the organization. The role leads Business Operations Centers of Expertise (CoEs) responsible for designing and deploying high impact programs, frameworks, tools, and operating mechanisms that enable consistent, data driven decision making across regions.This position serves as the central hub for business performance management, market intelligence, and innovation, championing modern ways of working that translate strategy into measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Business Operations Strategy & Centers of Expertise
Provide strategic direction and governance for Business Operations‑related Centers of Expertise.
Design, develop, and scale enterprise programs, frameworks, and tools that strengthen operational and commercial execution across regions.
Ensure CoE outputs are practical, embedded into daily operations, and deliver measurable business impact.
Operate effectively within a complex, matrixed organization, influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
Enterprise Performance & Execution Excellence
Lead enterprise execution excellence across critical business processes, including: Go‑to‑Market execution enablement; Strategic and key account execution frameworks; Funnel, opportunity, and forecasting governance; and Performance management and operating cadence
Partner with regional and functional leaders to improve execution discipline, consistency, and outcomes.
Drive adoption of best practices that enhance productivity, speed, and scalability.
Performance Management & Operational Governance
Define and oversee business KPIs, dashboards, and performance management routines across regions.
Design and deploy effective operating mechanisms for forecasting, business reviews, and accountability (e.g., KPIs, OKRs).
Leverage analytics to identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
Continuously improve business operations processes, platforms, and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Market Intelligence & Insights
Act as the organization’s single point of integration for market and performance intelligence.
Consolidate internal and external data to provide clear visibility on market trends, customer dynamics, and competitive landscape.
Deliver concise, decision‑ready insights to senior leadership to support prioritization and strategic decisions.
Innovation & Digital Enablement
Champion innovative and virtual solutions that enhance transparency, speed, and quality of decision‑making.
Drive adoption of digital platforms, analytics tools, and automation to modernize business operations.
Promote scalable, collaborative ways of working across regions and functions.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across regions and functions.
Build strong partnerships across commercial, operational, finance, and strategy teams.
Lead change management efforts to ensure sustainable adoption of new tools, frameworks, and operating models.
Key Requirements
15+ years of professional experience, including: Significant experience in business operations, commercial operations, strategy, or enterprise enablement roles; and 10+ years of people leadership in complex, multi‑layer, matrix organizations.
Proven track record of driving enterprise execution, operational performance, and transformation.
Strong strategic capability paired with hands‑on execution mindset.
Deep experience leveraging data, analytics, and digital tools.
Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, ambiguous, and geographically diverse environments.
Preferred Experience
Senior leadership roles with enterprise or regional scope.
Building and scaling business operations or execution excellence roadmaps.
Leading transformation or continuous improvement initiatives across regions.
Experience in complex or regulated industries is an advantage
Travel Requirements
Up to 50% international travel.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT EXECUTIVES CAREER STREAM: Business, region, and function heads providing strategic vision and/or tactical / strategic direction across multiple functions or sub-functions. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports.

Typically has budget or P&L accountability for the business unit across geographies, divisions, product groups or service groups.
Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are highly complex, undefined, and require extensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
Problems typically impact several major job areas, businesses or functions and require in-depth knowledge of the company, competitive environment, technology and economic or social implications of organization activities.
Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria.
Communication and Influence: Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, and typically has responsibilities for communicating with parties external to the organization, which may include customers or vendors.
Requires ability to communicate with senior executive leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization.
Frequently conducts executive strategy and planning sessions with to senior leaders both within and outside of the job function.
Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on divergent objectives.
Leadership and Talent Management: Manages a sub-function / function for a region / business unit, or all operations within a country which includes multiple teams led by Directors and Managers.
Determines organizational structure and develops talent strategies.
Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years relevant experience, or advanced degree 0 years prior relevant experience.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
