A Day in the Life
The Senior EHS Manager at Medtronic’s Peripheral Vascular manufacturing site in Plymouth, Minnesota plays a critical leadership role in shaping and advancing a proactive, high-performing safety culture within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. This role provides site-wide ownership and strategic oversight of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and site leadership to drive compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement aligned with Medtronic’s mission and global EHS standards.As a key member of the site leadership team, the Senior EHS Manager will set the vision and strategy for EHS, ensuring programs are scalable, sustainable, and fully integrated into business operations. This leader will drive enterprise alignment, influence cross-functional priorities, and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership - balancing operational demands with EHS excellence to protect employees, the community, and the environment while enabling business success.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for site-wide EHS programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements
- Develops, administers and implements environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement, leveraging incident learnings and best practice sharing
- Integrate EHS strategy into business planning and operational execution, driving long-term performance and risk reduction
- Lead the development, implementation, and sustainment of environmental, health, and safety programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership, providing guidance on risk management, compliance, and business continuity
- Oversee and optimize workers’ compensation programs, partnering with leadership to manage cost and employee outcomes
- Lead interactions with regulatory agencies, including inspections, audits, permitting, and resolution of compliance matters
- Evaluate proposed regulations and assess operational, financial, and environmental impact to the site and broader organization
- Ensure timely and effective investigation of incidents, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Establish programs to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, including influencing engineering and operational controls
- Drive training and awareness programs to ensure EHS expectations are understood and embedded across all levels of the organization
- Build organizational capability through coaching, development, and mentorship of EHS and cross-functional team members
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
- Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice To Have
- Experience in medical device or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- Proven experience leading or supporting multi-site or enterprise-wide EHS programs, including driving standardization, scalability, and alignment across sites
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Minnesota EHS regulations, with ability to go beyond baseline compliance
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
- Proven success leading site audits, inspections, and corrective action programs
- Demonstrated ability to drive behavior-based safety and employee engagement initiatives
- Strong capability in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk assessment
- Experience operating within a global, matrixed organization and aligning to corporate EHS standards
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) or progress toward certification
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, AED, or Laser Safety Officer preferred
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
